To Gooby and Just1 - thanks for the tip. Rich and I spent quite a while yesterday plowing up and down the switchbacks. If it wasn't for farmers in landrovers coming in the opposite direction, would have been seriously fun. Nice slip-sliding around the bends. First gear on the limiter! A definite must for a night drive.

Richard actually admitted his heartrate went up quite a bit - even when he was driving. He will soon be joining the lotus fraternity (Trevor driver) - resistance is futile. I got all the horse vans and he got all the open roads during his driving spell. Got back around 19:00!

By the way, my sat nav doesn't like dorset - I don't think it could find its face with the light switched on. Led me down back farm roads narrower than the car!

You have it on shortest route? Mine was the other week - found some great roads!

Quite corrct - though I didn't know it at the time - usually it is set on fastest road.

However, you are right - it did show some really cool roads as well.

I went for a blast mid week, a couple of weeks ago, and found myself at the bottom of Zig-Zag by accident, must have had 6-8 attempts at it. Only got one free run at it.

It is a joy, just stay in 2nd gear and blast it. What Fun

I kept wondering about you lads and second gear up there. Just realised that you blokes in the 111r's have a much shorter 2nd gear - I can do near 70mph in 2nd. Hence 2nd in the straights and 1st with a 6000rpm blat round the hairpins - much better for getting the tail squirming! Also helps to scare the oncoming traffic with the noise. Might also be because I'm cr*p.

PS beachbum - the lads (BOLOCS) say you are going on a diet to try to up the power to weight ration of the car.

Just checked your profile - wow! Real sideways stuff! I bow before greater talent. Naturally I have never exceeded the speed limit on any road - note that zig zag hill has a 60mph limit - and have never had a car sideways either on a track or the road or anywhere else. Actually I don't even have a car or a drivers licence. For that matter if anyone is asking, I don't even live in England.....

The only thing I am struggling to work out is why there are bug splats on my side window. Any ideas?

Gooby - considering the hours you keep, there was some speculation you might be a vampire - however as you did not burst into flames in the sunlight, I dismiss this rumour. Do you ever sleep? (says me still up at this hour)

I was joking - Gooby & Just1 had joked that personal weight loss was not going to be an option for you in your quest for speed - unlike the lot of us, (myself in particular) who could lose some ballast if we were that committed. We were having a discussion at the time about elises getting heavier etc and what lightweight bits would make a difference. In my case that would be about 2 stone of body weight!

Shanghai, never met you, but the guys mention you a lot. Seems that we always miss each other on the BoLOC runs.
Hopefully should remedy that soon, looking forward to it.

Any plans for this weekend? Might be up for a run to Zigzag hill or something....

We found it a few weeks back following that video that you all took and gave it a go on two different occasions. Took the camcorder too but no waaay can you hold it straight without using the mount so will try that next time. Got dizzy watching it.

See ya

Beachbum - absolutely look forward to meeting you on one of the runs. How do you fit in on the raw speed scale in the group. Just1 & Philygumbo started off sensible but Just1 has definitely caught the speed bug badly - I see upgrades in his future. Gooby scares me though and rumour has it that twinpipe is just as mad. Since my first pop down there, I started to get a better idea of what a lotus is for. I have invested in driver training and a sports exhaust! I have been surfing the net for "pathological lack of fear" pills / syrup or brain upgrade without success.

Sunday morning is usually hopeless - hangovers etc, but I was lucky to get down as the kids (in a different car) wanted seaside time. I see a pattern emerging.

I rank behind Gooby & Twinpipe, but ahead of Just1, but only cos mine is the "R" and he has standard Elise. He has got faster since the Larini was fitted.
Gooby is a maniac on the roads he knows, Twinpipe, is just a maniac fullstop. Might be able to keep up with Gooby when he is on an unfamiliar road, I wouldnt even try with Twinpipe, or you might end up seeing me at your workplace

The only person who would win is beachbum, the rest of us have a large amount of inertia to get over! Piooly is also on the "less than chubby" side.
