Hi Guys

I hope some one out there In TVR land can help !
For years my segnifcant other harf has been barking on how TVR`s are soooooo good "ohh the coulors are so pritty"
So of corse i took no notice of her and bought an elise (i know what your going to say but wait for it)saying to her the horror storys i have heard of TVR`s breaking down all of the time.
So i was happy with my elsie for a nombere of years even with the weeky retort from her "this is a stupid car and i hate it"
This was untill she booked me in for a drivers dream day i had a go of 4 sports cars:
F355(disapoiting)

966(very good)

Suberu(good)
and i was due for a go in an elise which i allready own but thought it would be fun around a track. But fate was not going in my favor(or was it) some old gent over heated the elise drving around in 2nd for 4 laps!!
So we were give the choice, waite for the elise or go for a drive in a TVR Grifith 500. At this moment she pushed me hard in the back and the guy took this gesture of nearly falling on my face as i wanted to go out in the TVR (very underhanded on her part).
Well Guys what can i say i have seen the light i need TVR pulseing though my vains. So on to my question
I am thinking of a T350 i asked my dad he`s oppinion(he`s in the motor trade)and he still insists that TVRs are very unreliable but admites that he dose not know too much about the new models so i need info from some one that owns any new or old TVR or even better if a T350 owner can give me there views on the model.
Any help will solve my problams and my life will be moan free well not completely free ;)
(sorry for any spelling mastakes there is no spell check and to any f355 owners as it was still a stoking car to drive)

Best thing you can do is visit a local monthly TVR Club meeting.
Loads of people there to answer all your questions face to face and you can get a good look around some fantastic motors!
Essex meets are on the 2nd Sunday of each month.

You are actually a Kent bod so your nearest local meet will be with Regional Organiser 'ncs', another pistonheader, just do a search and you'll find him...or trawl through the Griff forum....

Cant waite to get my hands on one of these bad boys but will be sad to see my elise go she was so nice to me all ways making me largh ahhhh.
I have been Looking though TVRs for sale and there seams to be a few Cars with high milage so they cant be that bad can they
But then again when pepole(popular car drivers) learn that i own an Lotus they they allways give me this look of being kicked rarther hard in the groin
Thats when i heard of Lots Of Truble Usally Serious But i have not had any truble even when i started playing around with the engine mods still purrs like a kitten maybe a bit lumpy but stiil purs but nothing like a TVR that roars and gives me gose bumps and makes me shudder!!!!

Amusingly when I took an Elise out for a test drive at Bell and Coville, before I decided it had to be the Cerb for me, I had a chat with the dealer and I mentioned the above ditty, he laughed and said "Oh no sir, it stands for Lots Of Technology, Usually Superior"

Even though it's cost me loads this year I wouldn't be without it. I'm holding onto it for as long as I can.

Just got back from the local post office in the Cerb. The P O is less then 0.5 miles away and I still clocked up 40 miles

I think you need to try some models out before setting yourself on one!

Sounds blinding any excuse to fool around in cars is all good with me.
I think i have made up my mind to chop the beast in and get an anamal.
But would like some info on meets so i can have a gander.
you know you get blided with new models and haveing a new plate and you kind of forget that there have been some realy nice models from the past years.
I am realy drawn to the T350 or a tuscan but after looking at your pics dave not to sure now.
I think the cerbera is a little bit big for me nothing wrong with that i just like a smaller car, size wise not engine wise. but as you said i need to try a few out and i realy enjoyed the grifith i drove on my day out.
Thinking of going to Castle TVR on my day off. Has anyone had any dealings with them. I only know of them though lotus ownership. Or dose anyone know of any were differnt i live in kent but not deep kent i am 1 hour as the crow flys from london and 30 min from essex.

Believe me, it don't seem big once you start driving it, fits like a glove. I had a TR6 before the Cerb which was a compact car but on my first test drive in a Cerb it felt right, excellent driving position and strangely feels quite compact. The extra long wheel base compared to the Chimaera is essential to reduce tail wagging, though it can still bite if you are heavy with the right foot on a greasy road.

Hi Fumes,

I have a T350C - moved up (or sideways) from a Chimaera. The newer T-models are a different drive/style from the Griffs/Chimaeras.

But they are all fantastic and have heaps of character and performance.

Have a browse through the T350 forum to get a feel for the model. You can mail me if you want any further info etc.

Well boys it sonds like i have my work cut test driving all of these cars. At the moment i am just looking at the style of the cars. which will change when i get to see them in the fleash.
TVr brochere tells you nothing.
I live very near bexleyheath.

trying not to be a pain but how differnt is the T350 from the chim/Griff. Did you Try the tammora out ?

For a comparison you could try Dream Machines in Heathfield, they're about an hours drive from you. They are a TVR & Lotus dealership so might take the Lotus in part ex.

Have a chat with Terry (Tuscan Tel on here)he'll see you right.

We have a meet on Sunday 6th November at Dunton Green if you want to join us - we usually get 25 to 30 Tivs together & there might be a few Lotus's's's joining us too this time

Fumes.....glad you have swayed from a Cerb as they are the most costly to run and may not be a good entry car to TVR...
(stands to one side and waits for a flaming!)

As for T350/Ttamora/Chimaera...choice...
Well...depends on whether you ewant the 'top off' experience.

Ncs is nearest to you......I would suggest you pop over to one of his Meets.

Castle TVR is the Mid Essex Dealer.
Ian or Michael are great guys who will listen, give you lots of advice and get the drift of what you are really after.

Nick not to sure where that is and hope you are right about a few lotus cars being there (see how i got out of that spelling mine feild)
outherwise its going to be like taking a nife to a gun fight. Might feel a how can i say it small
Also i was talking to a guy at work who is a engineer who builds drag Bike,Car frams.
His son inlaw spent some time working for TVR and was part of the desgin team who buit the first full TVR engine. So i got alot of infomation from him as well.
All very positive but did say the you cant expect the same reliability as you would out of a popular car but allready know this owning my car.

P.S As TVR owners do you wave,Flash(your lights)or beep
at other TVR drivers or is that just a sad thing Lotus (as i do that) drivers do ?

its a natural reaction to shout and wave if I see another TVR, it truly is beyond my control Mark is a little more subtle and raises his hand and flashes his lights.

Ive even been known to follow a fellow cerb owner just to get a pic on my mobile T8rus if you're reading this
