Replaced my rear springs and shocks at the weekend with new gaz adjustables from Bugsy.Only the back done so far with the front end next weekend...but what a difference! I have suspension again, and I can now sail over things in the road bigger than a pound coin without clouting the exhaust! :bounce:

Also Re-Renovoed the roof...twice,thanks to kitten who walked around on both wet panels the first time!
Hope it dried enough before the rain today, And I polished it,with Canuba wax! Treats or what!!!

Wonder if wife and daughter are going shopping next weekend too? :byebye:
Oh yes, my question. If you use Thompsons waterseal on the roof, can you Renovo it again in the future or does it then not sink into the fabric? :scratchchin:

Hi Tim, thinking of doing mine through the winter, was it an easy job? I have never worked on suspension before. Ooh and how much, so far, I think my ground clearance is next to zero if you know what I mean.

Hi Steve.
Easy as it comes, as long as you can get the originals apart.
Just undoing the bolts at either end of the shock and unwinding the base plate so you can get the old spring off.(Small grub screw secures base plate so look for that before getting frustrated it won't move!)

Not even that hard if you are going to replace the springs and shocks together as they will assemble easily.
Suggest ride height is left to a garage who can work on all four corners at once with the car off the ground.
160 mm centre box section chassis to road surface seems recommended and works fine.
The kit from Bugsy for all four corners springs, bushes and shocks is about £450.
The difference is enormous!

Once you have watersealed it "it does exactly what it says on the tin". You'll need to shampoo down the roof again and let it dry out before you renovo it again. Or the renovo will bead off. I tried this out before I renovo'd the S3, as I was trying to be lazy.

I would like to clarify a couple of things on this, regarding costs, the nickel kit which most people go for is £529.00 including VAT and delivery, the Zinc plated that Tim had is £499.00 inc VAT and delivery, if you don't buy it in bits at a time

On the ride height issue, 160/170mm at the front from the main chassis member is about the mark that most people work to but Guglielmi recomended the back be 15mm higher for a better angle of the dangle.

Just to echo Tims comments, I bought the Nickel set of Gaz adjustables from Bugsy, and found the difference to be amazing. Not only does the handling improve, the ride quality is substantially better! I needed to play about with the ride height to get it where I wanted to, due to lots of country roads in my area! Also, getting the correct amount of clicks took some trial and error (damm, had to do a lot of test drives!) I found that 12 clicks on the front and 15 on the rear worked best, as I had a bit of bounce at the start.

Exchange is so simple, even I could do it. although I did exchange the unit as a 'oner' so I did not have to take the springs off seperately. Some good advice from Bugsy was to get the car to a garage for a 4 wheel laser alignment afterwards.

Well worth the money if you have the standard TVR versions fitted.

Thanks Chris.

Hi Derek... Did you find you had the Zinc shocks in stock OK? Are they on the way to my office?
Thanks again.

Good news Tim. My Si is running Gaz springs and shocks all round and they are very good, and a reasonable price considering what you would pay for Spax.
As for the ride height. I set mine with a ruler. Put the car on a flat floor and messure from spring plate to the bottom of each shock making sure that they are the same each side until the car sits where you want it.
A bit of trial and error and hey presto! car sits square and has ground clearance.
