White Knuckle Rides
Discussion
As white knuckle rides go i am into waltzers where the G forces push you back into the seat as the car spins momentarily but as for any of the bigger rides like the one in the photo (Frisbee) and the roller coasters ive never really tried them, whos been on the scariest ride and would you do it again, what is the scariest ride?,this frisbee has got to take some beating. :)

Deja Vu at Six Flags Magic Mountain in LA. Kicks off with you going backwards up a 100ft(ish) vertical section and then drops you straight down (a la Oblivion at Alton Towers) and then round a track to finish straight up on an identical vertical section - it then does everything in reverse by which time you've gone hoarse from all the screaming
and lost the ability to walk in a straight line

... Have a look at Thorpe Park's website
Driving the M3 everyday I've seen their newest attraction being built and I cannot wait until its done as I will be straight down there.
205ft high.

Dragon Kahn in spain is an interesting one for me, not very scary but went round so fast it made my arms and legs tingle from numbness for 5-10 minutes afterwards because of the high-g's it pulled.
You could hear the thing from about 5 miles away too, quite a ominous sound.
Always fancied those ball things which catapult you skyward using 2 bungee cords...

The Magic Carpet is it?
The one at Chessington, it made my ex cry and she was no pussy.
I hated it too, felt like I was going to be catapulted off the thing sideways.
Horrible experience.
Looks like they have replaced it with the "Samurai",scarier still
and reading from this article these machines are not run at 'Wide open throttle'. When it was swinging and spinning did it feel like it wanted to turn a full circle.
Check out the mondial it gets 10/10

Scariest ride in the UK?
has to be the Wild Mouse at Blackpool. Might only be 50ft high, but by smeg does it pack a punch! EVERY corner on 2 wheels (literally!) manic is the only way to describe the ride when run on a slightly damp day without the trims, with 2 folk squeezed into the tiny soapbox derby cars
and the closeness of the structure just adds to it intensity - first time i rode it with my lass, i was left breathless and bruised... but WHOA! what a ride (and that was before they added the little panel on the bit of track you pass under on the lifthill...)
like i said dont be deceived by its small stature

Top Thrill Dragster i can see taking your breath away - 0 - 120mph in 4 secs and up a 420ft tower
Stealth at Thorpe is it's smaller brother, hopefully it'll be better than the damp squib that is Rita (at Alton)
I've got to say i find Park run flats rather tame as the settings they run on are generally the more sedate runs - go to the bigger fairs to see rides like Samuria (sp?) Vortex, Bling, et al run on proper settings
(can you tell i'm a coaster enthusiast

) wooden wild mice - Blackpool: Wild Mouse and Southport: King Solomans Mines
Both very intense rides - dont think theres any other rides in the country that can match them for that (but then i'm a fan of wooden coasters over Steel coasters)
saying that - the seconded half of The Ultimate at Lightwater Valley comes close on the intensity front! but my god is it rough!

The Big One at Blackpool Pleasure Beach.
Did my neck in the first time due to the G forces, I also have a karting injury so my neck is not that good condition. Went a second time about a year later said "I dont need to go on it again, I have done it once so dont need to do it again, also it did my neck in" last second I thought sod it im going on. Did my neck in again.

best bet then - sit near the front - the first drop isnt quite so visous there - the back carrage with the pull over the top is well know for its kick down the drop, and to think they sanitised the drop in 98 as it was too harsh origonally - widened the turn in.
you can see the origonal line to the left of the current track - used to run in line with the structure, now it is cantileavered out to the left of the turn.
Also - put your feet flat against the carrage front, and push back to brace yourself. - tis the best way to ride o/

that thing is AMAZING, when i went, it felt like they didnt strap you in tight enough, as i was part way out of the seat, OH MY GOD the speed is fantastic.
went on it shortly after it opened after queuing (sp?) for an hour and three quarters

Used to be the scariest thing at Chessington, mainly because it felt like it really shouldn't still be running.simpo two said:

Tightwads. I already hate them. Try 'print screen'.
yeah thick wads too. Don't they realise that the more publicity they get the more money they can earn
edited to add: I have also 'done the mouse' and who ever thought of designing that should be shot. IRC the bloody thing runs on wooden rails
Its not big its not even that fast but it is scarey, if not only because you dunno if your going to make it back without it collapsing
