Can anyone tell me if there is a "flat" fee for selling your car on Ebay Motors ?

Has anyone done this and what was the experience ?

Thanks Guys / Ladies for any help .

Think its 10 quid flat fee, and IIRC you have to put it in with a very low price to get much bidding (although you can put the reserve high still).

I don't really get it though myself. Just not a place I'd buy or sell a car.

Yeah I know what you Mean Dan.

But I thought Why now and one of my cars is up there.
Charged £6 plus various odds and sods totalling around £9.00 plus a final value fee which goes into the hundreds if im not mistaken (subject to achieving my price)

Anyone else sold their car on ebay ?
What sort of Fee's did you pay if you did .
I thought it was a flat fee or am I mistaken ?

Flat fee of £6 to list the car (plus a graduated reserve fee if you apply a reserve)
You'll also get charged if you want a 'themed' background, more than 12 pictures, supersized images etc (these fees are mostly small - 20p or so)

E-bay will also charge you a final value fee based on the amount that your vehicle sells for - I sold a £7k CR-v on there, and the final value fee was about £12 IIRC

If you are paid for the vehicle by paypal then they will charge you a % as well.

All in all it can get quite expensive selling cars on E-bay, but I've sold nearly a dozen now, and will continue to do so thanks to the convenience it offers.

Make sure you add the "I reserve the right to remove this car from listing as it is for sale elsewhere" clause, and don't actually sell it via Ebay. That way you get all the advertising for free !!

Indeed, bung it on PH Classified as well.
I sold my old BMW on eBay because it had a few things wrong with it and I didn't want too many tyre-kickers. I lost a month and a sale due to a w*nker non-paying bidder, but eventually it went. But be wary - eBay motors is full of scum and timewasters. Would you buy a car without seeing it? I wouldn't!

i'm selling my car on ebay at the moment. i sold it once a couple of months ago, but the buyer pulled out after it got damaged by my neighbour the morning after i sold it!....he didn't want to wait until it was repaired.
if you stick the max number of pics on (6 i think), and have a little pic that apears at the beginning of your add,and have a reserve price, the fees start adding up, when my car sold last time the total fees in the end came to £27 (the car sold for £4,500).
i'm expecting a similar ammount in fees this time. i don't think this is too bad, as you get a world wide audience, which is handy if your car is rare or unusual.
so far i've had several enquiries from france, one from italy, one from switzerland, one from morrocco, one from america, one from belgium and one from the uk, with bids coming from most of them.
time to sit back now, just over 2 days to go, lets just hope the bids keep coming in!

edited to add a couple more countries to the bid list.

Had a similar experience, people seemed to think ebay was some kind of charity set up to transfer nice cars to council estates at bargain money.

They were obviously did expect to get the car for next to nothing as they would place said unrealistic bid and not come and see the car or anything.

I sold my GTIR via eBay, though it was from email enquiries, not through the auction. It is certainly a very good advertiser, even if it does not sell through there.

you still have to pay the listing fees whether it sells or not.....if it sells, you then have to pay a percentage of the final price on top as well.

eBay don't like you doing it - you can stop an auction if it has less than 12 hours to run but it's not obvious how to do it - search Help for 'Stop auction'. If there are bids you ave to cancel those first.

I've sold a number of cars in different price brackets, generally I've found that the more expensive cars (£5k +) sell for about 10% less than Autotrader
Cheaper cars (<£1k) sell for more on E-bay.

The trick to getting a sensible return is to write a good advert (mine normally take an hour or more to write) and take lots of good pictures - bright day, clean car etc
