I used to have one of these amongst all the other toys i owned and the original price would of been around £1.20, i probably threw it away

What toys did you have that would worth a mint now?
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CORGI-CHIPPERFI

Just spotted the price @ 21/6 think that works out at £1.07 1/2p....wish i could go back in time and buy a lorry load.

Not in the same era but i have a load of transformers from my youth in the 80's and they are worth a nice amount now - they'll only get more valuable as these days you dont get complicated toys made from die cast and rubber parts... this is one of the most collectable/saught after ones - and i have minter

Have you both looked on e-bay to get an idea of the prices?,i think maybe ebay has probably helped rediscover some old stuff and helped in pushing and getting a good feel on prices of old toys and other goods.

I've got lot sof old Tamiya r/c buggies, many of which have gone up in value. The money you spend restoring them oftem means you just about break even. My nicest is a Mountaineer, like this :

I got an original monopoly set, something like 60-70 years old for £5, so there are some bargains on ebay too

Ive been doing the same of late, last week i spent £140 on old books and comics and this week £40 on one old toy....both lots for collections although i did buy some surplus to sell on at a later date to recover some £££££'s..ime glad ebay is about and enjoy the fun of winning bids.

Yeah unfortunately i did trash some and i know they were worth money know - but you can't go through life not playing with your toys

Its good to know i still have some though - like jetfire (above) is worth over £175 boxed, and i also have soundwave and a shed load of the cassette - soundwave goes for £70 upwards and the cassetes themselves go for £20 a pop ! Thats not the point - i like to know i have something not many others do

As for those tamiya kits - i love those ! I saw a mint lamborghini countach one which was an actual full metal kit on ebay not so long ago. Ultra rare and it went for about £600 or something. Would have been great to build !

Put it this way - I sold my collection of star wars toys and bought my first Elise!

One sold for £2,500! A nice little earner at the time

Jetfire rules - I had one too, long gone now though. I thought about collecting the early autobots again now (love all that kind of geekery) - the ones which looked a lot like 'real' cars.

Yeah, some of them are quite expensive, others less so. Mounties are one of the most costly.

Loads more of my stuff here : www.fastasfunk.co.uk
err, and here : www.raptorv2.co.uk

Got to love the old Tamiyas though

Just out of interest - i've got a hankering for a nitro monster truck or car, but all the kits i've seen look a bit simple - anyone know of a kit thats a bit more challenging and will take a while to build ?? I know the old Clod Buster was a beast and i fancy one of those but i want nitro !

i sold some tamiya r/c bits on ebay recently, the prices i got were mad!
a mostly used set of sand scorcher bettle decals went for £62.00!....and only last year i gave a complete sand scorcher to my mate, with a new body and decals ,for free!!!!... as i didn't know they were worth anything, and he's a big bettle fan!.....going by the others i've seen on ebay, that was about £500 worth!

old scalextric cars can get good money as well, i got £80 for an old ferarri 250gt berlinetta, £30 odd for a mk1 escort, and the same again for a can-am type car!

These days they are all virtually pre-built. The nitros do take some maintenance if you hammer them though - plenty of practice pulling them apart and cleaning them...!

Talking of challenging kits i am building this kit based on a Stevens funfair lorry, because its so small its taking a long while to paint this is 1/76th 00 scale, this should fetch a few bob once built.
