Kismet Hardy... It is fate Hardy.
The only latin I know
It was the Victorians who replaced the words 'Kiss me' with 'Kismet', as they were so prudish they would not allow themselves to believe Nelson would have said such a thing! lol
Oh yes, we have sold virtually our entire stock of Victory kits!

Always thought he was a bit foolish hanging around the upper deck in all his regalia knowing the french had the best snipers, very fool hardy (NPI).
Very proud that are sailors could fire 2 shots to the enemies one though.
I have a theory that he was basically committing suicide. But in a way that would have him remembered as a hero.
Great military commander though.

He wouldn't really have had a choice. It would have been expected for the officers to be on deck. It would have been considered cowardice for him to have done otherwise.
In any case, it would probably have been just as dangerous below as it was on deck.

In those days, some officers and men (well, a lot, actually!) didn't perceive fear as we do nowadays (seemingly), not taking any notice of the splinters/gunfire/carnage whilst still chatting normally set examples to the other men, not sure it would happen now though,,, 'Hello, Claims Direct.....'Tank Slapper said:

I disagree he was advised repeatedly to either observe from a frigate or to take some cover. It wouldn't have been seen as cowardice.....more good sense.
The whole point about Nelsons navy was the ability of each individual ships captain to inspire his men and know the battle plan, the whole point was to avoid a complete reliance on one man at the centre. By taking out the French flagship first that's the very weakness in the French command system that he was targeting.
Great man, great leader, great victory on the back of which came the ability to travel world wide unchallenged for over a hundered years and maintain the empire.
Are there any celebrations in Trafalgar Square tonight then
, or is Ken going to rename it Nelson Mandela square or somesuch
, at least its still got Nelson in it though
.
Should be the Autumn bank holiday we're all looking for IMHO.

I got that feeling when i watched the TV drama, was this to be his Finest hour and would such a proud military combat man had been happy with a steady safe life there after,if this was how he felt he certainly got it right in the way of becoming a legend for life ever more.
