I made an argument in an essay earlier this year that not everone should be allowed to vote and that possibly a brief political exam should be required to ensure that if you want to vote you actually understand the basic issues (not strictly my personal view but it was to deal with topic).

If this had been available it would have made the evidence angle a lot simpler.

V.Scary if real.

Looks like Australia is doomed then! Amazing really, wonder how many interviews they had to do to get that footage?

Sad to say, but I reckon you could get the same footage after spending a day in a UK city centre!

Yeah, but you wouldn't be able to conduct the interview in English......

Finally a subject I actually know something about .

This was a show in Australia that was on last yearish called CNNN. Basically it's a spoof of CNN and all those other 24 hours news shows. They were in fact real people, it's something along the lines of Ali G where one person is pretending to be the serious reporter whilst actually taking the piss out of the unsuspecting person. Of course they only show the real idiots and lets be honest, you could easily pull that trick anywhere, no shortage of idiots in the world.

I wonder if they'd have noticed if the interviewer had stuck the name Iran over the map of America?

A bit of an edited sample of people I think - you'd get the same result in many areas of the UK - and the map was "labelled" for the punters .... ( they did seem very dim though ).

Having said that .... all my American friends who come over here to visit are highly intelligent / well read and international in their outlook .... just like most well educated Europeans.

no offence intended Jim, we're the same I mean "we " voted thatcher in more than once. FFS.

I reckon alot of people believe what they read, see and hear without question.

The majority of press in the uk is a disgrace.

I think bush got in by the skin of his teeth twice and the US is a divided country - john kerry said the same whilst bush didn't acknowledge the division within the country at all.

I'm sure they didn't show the footage on cnnn.com of those that corrected the atlas and got the irony etc, however the fact that seemingly "alot" of americans thought australia was iran and france and korea is a tad worrying

No offense taken. I believe, however, that you were far better off under Thatcher....and Bush won the second election by a wider margin than Clinton ever did.
