ok guys, i am struggling with decision.... i am wanting to buy a car, max 20k ish, i want fast, loud, lairy! TVR seems to fit the bill. i have posted a thread on the cerbera forum and i am not convinced it will be ok as an everyday car. I dont do that much mileage really but just a bit worried about the reliability in general. I then thought about a tuscan but seems they go bang a lot. Am i worrying unduly or am i right to have these concerns?
Can anyone suggest anything else to look at?

We've got a Griff that is used daily - approx 10,000 per annum.
No real issues in using it daily as they tend to run better if used daliy but budget bewteen 1 and 2k for running costs. Cerbera - double that. Tuscan - no idea but I guess similar to Cerb.
Griff/Chim/Tamora you can take the roof off, Cerb not, Tuscan - roof section and rear perspex comes out.
Come to a West Mids meet (3rd Sunday of the month at the Bulls Head Maeriden or the Easy Mids meet which is the 2nd Sunday (see www.tvrcc-eastmidlands.co.uk for meet location as they move around a bit).
You'll get a late 90's Griff or a later Chim for that price, early Tamora, late 90's Cerb, a 2000 Tuscan.

Hmmm, must have missed the thread on the Cerbie forum.
Sure there are always rumblings about unreliability, doesn't really matter what car you buy in that respect, particularly high performance sports cars. I've driven 12000 miles in my 4.5LW Cerb in just under 18 months. It's not my main car but I do use it for work and family stuff when needed. In all of those miles it has never let me down, only partial failure was the ribbon connector for the lights/horn/washers etc, other than that, faultless. I reckon if you use them frequently they are all the better for it. My other Cerb managed 9000 miles in 12 months, again faultless apart from the charging fuse (50p fix) left me stranded once. Just gives you a balanced view. Yes they do go wrong and some parts are expensive. You can't run them for Mondeo money that's for sure.
I'd recommend you have an inspection carried out by a Cerb expert before buying then find a good indie to look after it for you. Personally I would buy as late a car as I could afford, either 4.2 or 4.5.
