....exactly!

I did mean one's actual name - deed pole and all that. Just to satisfy my curiosity, as it cropped up in conversation last night in the boozer as a guy I used to work with changed his surname to Aardvark to appear at the top of any designer directories he was in.

Well you can change your first name to whatever you want at anytime, I believe the depol(sp?) is only to do with your surname.

It's why traditionaly you give a child a first and middle name so they can change to the middle name if they wish.

Easy! You can do it online in the UK and get a nice certificate back in the post. The hard bit (well time-consuming) is changing your name on driving license, passport, credit card, bank statements, gas bills etc etc

IIRC you can use any name you like for any purpose as long as it is not fraudulent.

Took me 5 minutes to change mine and cost £15. No problems changing Passport, Driving licence, Bank accounts or Inland Revenue records.

of course, persuading people to actually call you Jesus might cost a bit more...

Very easy, took a chap I went to uni with a couple of days.

He chose Foghorn Leghorn which if I had to choose a name again...

lots of people call me Jesus...

could be my long hair/beard + looking like a medievil version of Jesus seen in many a church window
