My phone has broken (its insured so will have it back in a week or so) and my spare is locked onto Orange. Does anyone know how to unlock the spare, free of charge?

I believe it can be done with a code.

There are several online services that do this. I can't recommend any specifically as I haven't used them, but a google search for "UK phone unlocking" had loads of results.

I may stand corrected but I think you need a special bit of kit to do it and it costs quite a bit. Your local pikey mobile shop should do it for £5-10.

Oh monkeyhanger what have you done.
Do you realise you have just put about 500 people on EBay out of work.

You send the E Bayer 99p and they get the code from this place and send it to you.

There will be questions asked in the house about this.

Worked for me too, unlocked my 6310i and my spare 6210
Thanks!

Must get a more up to date phone... but I don't know of one that is similarly robust, lasts for 7 days of medium use and doesn't have a camera (work in the defence industry so camera is verboten). Any suggestions?

sorry to go a little bit off topic, but does anyone know if you can change only the cradle for a car kit so i can use a more up to date phone, not that the 6310i is bad in fact its a great phone and the battery life is great i just want something alittle smaller and more modern,so any ideas?

Such a phone does not exist anymore. I had to give in and get a colour screen and camera in the end. Best bet is try to find a stock of mint 6310i's and you'll be happy for years.

This code thingy, is that the PUK No your talking about, think I got mine from my service provider once free of charge/

Something else of interest, its worth noting down your IMEI No, if your phone is nicked, you call your service provider and give them the IMEI No, and they will block the phone.

To find the IMEI number key in *hash06hash,cant find hash sign, so thats STAR HASH ZERO SIX HASH, mines a 17 digit number.

I thought someone did bring one not so long ago, which only made phone calls, mind it was a crap looking phone. If you know anyone who works overseas, there seems to be an abundance of used phones for sale in Baku, the majority being pre camera phones.

You can get an adaptor off ebay to make a 3120 (or any pop port nokia) fit the 6210 car kit (CARK-91)..

What? You can't find anyone with a spare Nokia charger.

Sorry - I simply don't believe you!

thanks for the info, i dont supose you know what the adaptor is called or how much they go for?,as typing in anything to do with phones on e bay usually results in pages of headache causing results.

Nokia 8910i. Cracking phone, no gimmicks and available either new or reconditioned for less than I've just arranged to sell my P910i that Orange gave to me when I upped my contract minutes. The 910i is a good enough phone and a reasonable smartphone/baby pda, but as I need a decent pda anyway and have a similar issue re cameras, decided to make the swap.
