Anyone got it or had it?
Haven t had a biopsy yet but scared s
tless atm!
Backstory: was in a serious accident last year and had back pain
Went to A&E in June with it being severe (felt like a string connected inside between my back and left ball) and felt like someone kicked me in it, doctor told me to have paracetamol and ibuprofen and did bloods which were elevated but said to not be concerning,
September after some lifting back pain again so went to gp as advised by A&E and he sent me for bloods and mri,
MRI showed dehydrated discs with the s1 nerve running nearby which is why I was in pain again blood elevated, however mri showed a mass to which the gp said we need to send you for ct scan,
Ct scan 2 weeks ago and on Wednesday this week they said in my left side of my abdomen my lymph nodes are all enlarged with the biggest at 8cm in diameter, at the time of ct my organs were clear and it wasn t above my diaphragm, next week I have to go for biopsy but all I can think now is that I m going to die or how long I ve got left, ppl keep saying oh they can do wonders now with cancer but it s still f**king cancer!
No symptoms apart from abit of nausea but that’s only since I’ve been told so it’s probably worry!
I m truly devastated I ve got 2 young kids and a wife
And I ve had a truly s
t 12 months

Sorry to hear your news, it s worrying and it s completely understandable to be feeling scared too.
My advice is get help, speak to Macmillan, they were brilliant at explaining things and helping to understand what happens next and why when I needed them.
Also now is a sensible time to cut out all sugar and focus on diet, there s lots of research to support this and why it can help.
Keep posting on here, keep talking, PH is a funny place at times but you’ll be amazed at the support that’ll come and help you’ll get.

You ll be amazed at how quick the NHS will react now, my advice would be not to go googling, each case and treatment is very personal to you and you ll probably scare yourself even more by doing it.

Theres nothing wrong with having a good cry mate. MacMillan can also help with what to tell children, how to explain things to them and when, they really are absolute angels at times like this so do get in touch with them. They support people every day, where as for us it s completely new and the first time you ve had to deal with news like this, they re also great at helping you to know what questions to ask too.

TX.
I had a Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma in 1999. Treated with chemotherapy and thought all was good. It was not all good. The f
ker came back in 2009. This time, because I had already had what was then considered more than the safe lifetime dose of chemo drugs I was given a stem cell transplant. And so far, so good.
There is hope. Never give in, never surrender.

Do not google!! Honestly it s not helpful as none of it is aimed at you as a person. Scans, testing, treatment plan, everything will be specific to you.
Yeah I’m trying not to, it’s one of them though isn’t it, because it’s such a shock you can’t help but lookVoldemort said:

You make a really important point, your mind and outlook are just as important as your physical health when it comes to cancer and treatment. Getting help with the mental health side is just as important, for your wife too and children.

Yep on it, I used to love a chocolate bar every afternoon at work all that’s been cut out same with biscuits, TX.
Missus is obviously been strict, every morning I’m having this vegetable vitamin drink and vegetables with my tea, so hopefully it makes a difference

It won’t do any harm that’s a certainty, if you can increase exercise too as this is great for body and mind. Missus is obviously been strict, every morning I m having this vegetable vitamin drink and vegetables with my tea, so hopefully it makes a difference
Mrs M had non-hodgkins Lymphoma around 20 years ago. Her symptoms were very diffent to yours, but there were tumours everywhere - diaphragm, lungs all the lymph nodes. Kidneys were failing, it was awful.
The treatment was extremely successful, the Doctor - Chinese specialist who is something of a legend in his field now - prescribed Rchop. I don't remember all the details but the bulk ofthe work was done by what was a new drug at the time -Rituximab. There were 4 or 5 other drugs. It wasn't pleasant; Hair loss, weight loss, lethargy, suppressed immune system. I remember how people would quickly look the other way when we were out walking or whatever, but after 6 months the tumours were gone.
She stayed on Ritux for a couple of years as part of a trial and has been in remission ever since.
She didn't get off scot-free, there is a persistent cough after the initial diseaase presented in one lung, but is fit and healthy and still runs three or four times a week and works full time.
Of course without a diagnosis you won't know, but if your disease is similar to hers it really isn't the endgame it used to be, that treatment is now "routine" first line treatment and is very successful.
On a general point, seek out all the help and suuport you can form agencies, medics, charities, wherever you can get it, for you and your family, it will probably be exhausting for you all.
I hope you get a clear diagnosis and a plan soon, good luck.

Yeah you just hear the word cancer and it hits you like a brick to the face! My wife broke down in the doctors office!
As of 2 weeks ago it hadn’t passed my diaphragm and was just in one side of my abdomen so hopefully nothings changed
The doctor says the good news is that they’ve found it whilst looking at my back issues and thankfully I haven’t got any symptoms yet, so he says that’s a good sign,
Next Friday can’t come soon enough but I’m scared about the biopsy and how they go about it not a fan of needles at all

I know it sounds pithy but there is a little trick I learned to cope with that. Close your eyes. That's it. I usually say "I hope you don't mind but I hate needles and I'm not going to watch" Gets the job done for me.Gassing Station | Health Matters | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
