Looking to get a V2L plug for my 2025 EV6 in case of power cuts. They seem to vary from £260 from Kia, down to £40 on eBay.
Any recommendations?

I bought a £40 one off amazon for my MG4, has worked faultless. Although has only been used for charging an Ebike.

Are you sure that your EV6 actually has V2L?

When I bought my EV3, it came with the V2L adaptor.
There were quite a few owners on Facebook groups who were buying adaptors, then finding it didn't work.
V2L was only installed on the top spec GT Line S version in the UK, but they didn't realise this.

On the EV3, V2L-equipped cars also had a normal 13A socket under the rear seat base. I think the EV6 is the same.
On the Hyundai Inster, the 13A socket is at the base of the centre console.

No interior 13A socket means no V2L, as the car won't have the bi-directional AC charger fitted.

Mines a 2025 model. From what I have read it does support V2L but as standard does not have the 3 pin socket or come with the V2L adapter as standard.
But I will double check with Kia.

The max V2L load on the UK MG4 is 2.2kW, for the EV6 it's 3.6kW.

Personally OP, I'd be buying the official Kia adapter for peace of mind.

Would using the 3 pin socket under the back seat work as it’s just a temporary requirement?

They don't all come with that, and if the power cut happens during bad weather (as is often the case) would you want to have to leave a door or window open on your car in order to run the cable to your house?

There are loads of Renault V2L plugs on Ebay for about £60. Rated for 3.7kW. I just purchased one for my Micra.

Or get an unused Kia one for similar money?

How impressive is this- after above post I emailed Kia customer service last night. At 9.14 this morning, a Saturday, I had a reply! Yes your EV6 does support V2L.
Mine does not have the 3 pin socket. The after market ones on Amazon look like the 3 pin plug will not be shielded from the rain. Whereas the Kia one looks like it’s at least covered.
I think second hand one off eBay is best idea.

I paid about £50 on eBay for a genuine one for my Ioniq 6.

EBay is definitely the way to go for stuff like this. I paid £85 for a genuine Ford granny charger for my Mach-E. The seller even (unexpectedly) threw in a nice case for it, to keep the frunk tidy. The same product from a Ford dealer is £468.

Information regarding V2L on Kia cars seems very confusing, with some saying that all EV6 and EV3 models have the required bi-directional charger fitted, whether or not they have the internal socket.

For the EV3, V2L is disabled in software unless it has the internal socket.
For the EV6, V2L is probably enabled in software as standard.

Concensus is, you need to check in the infotainment system for an option that let's you change the traction battery cut-off level for V2L operation. If you have this menu option, you have V2L.
