Hi all, I need to send a watch to be repaired with a value of about £8k. Will be UK to UK but want to make sure fully insured.

I have tried Evri, DHL, Royal Mail, and UPS but non seem to have a service that insures for this amount.

Does anyone have any suggestions please?

Not wishing to be a dick, but wouldn't the place you are sending it to be able to suggest the courier that they use to return the items to their customers (assuming they deal with similar value items regularly).

Subdial uses FedEx but requires you to video you packing the watch into box and sealing it for insurance purposes. Not sure if FedEx actually insures it or if Subdial use a separate insurance company.

I just received a watch from Subdial and it was sent via DHL so maybe they use both.

From my experience of shipping expensive watches, it is a combination of whatever courier plus separate insurance via Secursus. Make sure you follow all of the Secursus packing/documentation rules so there's no issue in event of a claim!

Seems risky, but no doubt the extra insurance costs quickly add up....

The only companies i can find that will do an £8k insurance are companies i have never heard of (granted i don’t send too many parcels) but make me question what is best sending fully insured but with someone i haven’t heard of, or taking a punt with royal mail but not covered for the full value.

I was suggested to send it via RM upto £2500 and then get additional insurance. Luckily the watch I sent was worth just less than the 2.5k limit.
