Does anyone have any experience of these brands? I currently have a Samsung 50" (not sure of the model) around 5 years old. I'm currently in the process of having a media wall built and as such thought it would be a good opportunity to upgrade the TV.

These brands keep popping up as being really highly specced but at a fraction of the price of Samsung, LG, etc. I absolutely hate the interface on my Samsung, it's unbelievably laggy. It reminds me of a PC from the late 90's when trying to play a game on it that was beyond it's capabilities.

I don't want to close my mind to new brands if people have actually had good experiences with them..

I've got a 55" Hisense OLED, bought it 11 months ago for £560. Works fine, Freely is sometimes slow but never use it, just use it as a source for Sky and Firestick.

I was a Sony fan and we just upgraded our main TV to a TCL.
Then bought TCLs for my daughter's room and the snug.

They run Google OS, which I hugely prefer over Freely (Hisense) or the other OS platforms.
I also hated the Samsung OS that we had in the snug before. I was quite happy when I put the TV back up after a big re model to find it had been broken. The TCL to replace it was less than £200.

Not a TV but the heating element in our Hisense washing machine packed up about 6 months in. The guy that came out to repair it bodged it to the point the element rubbed on the drum and the connections were not crimped at all. I'm surprised he didn't cause a fire. They replaced it after that so a mixed bag on the customer service front. I guess they can't account for rogue technicians. The guy even specifically said he was an electrician, which did strike me as odd at the time.

Out AC is TCL and had no issues in 5 or 6 years so far.

I too am tempted by Hisense and TCL.
My LG is only three or four years old and has a great picture, but the home-screen/apps and it's reputation for phoning home means I'm looking to replace it sooner rather than later.

Hisense good, we use with sky box and I'm sure the sound is crap but never used it as with a 5.1 system hooked up it makes a great screen

Go as big as you can, these days a 65 doesn't seem that big

Why do you care about the internal apps? Aren't they just to get you going? Doesn't everyone use a Firestick, Roku or Apple TV in the long term?

I replaced a 50in LG (which failed after 3 years) with a similar sized TCL, it is laggy running on the onboard Google software, picture is decent though and I use a 4K Firestick with it so the software isn't an issue for me.

I do have to concede that it very occasionally decides to hard reset itself and takes 20-30 seconds to get itself up and running again, usually at a critical moment like the start of an F1 race. Luckily it doesn't happen often.

I've got a 65' Hisense and use it with Sky Ultra HD and HD. It's every bit as good as my old Panasonic that dropped dead just before Xmas a couple of years back. All the family comment on the picture quality when they are round watching Footy or F1. For the price I think you'd struggle to beat it.Would def recommend

Similar from us, bought a brand new Hisense washing machine a couple of months ago, only for it to pour water out the back on a wash. Hisense wanted me to wait 4 weeks for them to send an engineer out so I complained to AO who were actually great and replaced it with another one.

Then during the heatwave the 3 year old fridge decided it didn’t want to fridge any more, so I’ve replaced it with an AEG instead.

Similar experience here we have had a 55” in living room which had been excellent for gaming and film for a few years.

One upstairs which is smaller but fine, speakers less impressive but good enough for most purple.

Then we bought this in January 2026 for the kids to game on out of the way. Bargain £269 on sale at Amazon.

The speakers are good again - audiophiles probably would get a soundbar but it is not necessary.

we have a hisense TV. Very slow to respond to remote and the remotes are really crappy, had about three now after various buttons pack up working.

At one stage we had one remote for switching on and off, and another for scrolling. Oh, and did I say it was slow?

For balance, I have newish LG Nanocell, the interface is sloooowww. The EPEG is slow, stuck loading the programs as I scroll through. The Home Screen is crap, all I want to do is watch TV on it. I have turned everything off so at least it defaults to the last source, but it's still slow, and the remote wand thing is crap.

I have locked it down with all privacy settings etc.

It's only a second TV in the spare room, so I can live with it. Won't be buying another LG.

I have a Hisense 75 inch. It's absolutely fine, picture on the whole is good. I mainly use it with a fire stick rather than using the freely.

The only picture issue is the black colours. It can be a pixelated when the black area is larger. But I can put up with it.

I'm not sure to be honest, it was the best one on sale at the time (Xmas 24) and was on offer at Currys. I'm sure there's better TV's out there but for the money they are pretty much unbeatable IMO.

On the flip side my 9 year old Hisense washing machine is still going strong as is my 15 year old Samsung fridge/freezer and 18 year old Panasonic plasma TV.

To be fair no. I stream iplayer, ITV, Netflix, Prime, Now and youtube - all straight through the TV's interface.

Same here now, the speed of the apps is great and never lags. Even though fire sticks do due to distance from router.
