Hi

Will have a few days in Stockholm in mid Jan. Any "can't be missed" things to do.

Anyone ever eaten at Ekstedt?

Couple of places we ate at earlier this year & can defiantly recommend

The Hairy Pig https://thehairypig.com/en/home/
Meatballs For The People https://meatball.se/

As oldaudi says, a boat trip around the islands is a great way to spend a few hours. Not sure how far you'll be able to go in Jan though

It'll be flipping cold so take layers, used to work there so it'll depend if there's a lot of snow or not (I'm not sure it's as bad as it was in the 1980's though). Above suggestions are good and also visit the "old town" for some good bars and restaurants.

I was there a couple of weeks ago. The Vasa museum is fantastic, we spent a good couple of hours there. Gamla Stan - quite touristy but interesting to see what the old town would have been like. Similar to the Royal Mile in Edinburgh but more colourful. We went to the Munkbron Bryggeri there for a couple of very tasty beers brewed onsite, also did a 2 hour boat trip. The ABBA museum was pretty good, even as a non-fan, but Some Sheila went full fangirl which was pretty funny.
We were lucky with the weather and had a couple days when it was too warm to wear a jacket, which made it all very pleasant. I'm not sure how much will be open for sightseeing in January, and be aware that compared to the UK, food and drink are pretty pricy. It's a lovely, walkable city. We stayed in Ostermalm which is reasonably close to Gamla Stan etc.

Re: restaurants, if you like sushi then sushi sho is a must do. I went before they got their star and it was a great experience, best sushi I’ve ever had and amongst the best service and atmosphere.

Been a while since I’ve been so can’t remember much other than this and the fact it was bloody cold!

I think the weather alone is an attraction in Stockholm in Jan/Feb. Lakes will be frozen, you'll have sunny mornings to enjoy walks in any parks.

Gamla is the recommendation, take it a bit of culture.

I quite like the idea of a trip over soon so my son experiences some decent snow oh and 7/11's as they still exist there.

The 7/11s are awesome! Good looking fresh food and seating areas!

Can easily be mild, like 10-12c. Use the Norwegian weather app yr.no and the Swedish are too busy on Fika breaks and parenting leave to make weather forecasts work...
