Following a couple of super track days with a group with now have on a certain messaging app, I decided that tracking my SLK55 or M3 was a stupid idea.

Yes reader, man maths kicked in and told me I should buy yet another car!

I had been sent this car by various members of said app, and liked the wheels and the spec - and the high miles.

It didn t sell, and was relisted, so contacted the owner and we did a deal at £2k. Probably too much, but still a bit of fun.

It s a 2.0 litre Mazda mx5 Nc (their words for the mk3) Venture edition - as far as I can tell this folding hardtop version came with the 17 alloys, brown leather inserts, heated seats, and bilstein shocks.

A lovely seller and a proper car enthusiast. Proper cars on the drive.

Oh and it had done 157k miles.

This is the first car which had zero previous owners on the V5 - so I'd bought it from the first owner. An impressive milage.

I'd been an idiot and bet on it going through an MOT. Which it did, after new tyres and with some advisories.

I like the look of it!

I didn't have anything done before the legendary Blyton Park track day (please contact) - the loveliest, friendly trackday on the calendar twice a year.

It was great. Lots of lean. But I drove the nuts off the Mx5. The most fun car i've taken on track.

My Dad drove it and was at totally at home

In the afternoon we had issues with the seat (which wobbled its way loose), and the clutch pedal mounting - common issues.

But such fun. It's just far more fun thrashing a worthless MX5 around track than it is an M3 you've spent a fortune on!

I have zero mechanical ability, but took the wobbly seat out and stuck a new one in. Sorted the misty lights as well.

I'm really enjoying this old car. I've decided I'm going to go through it and give it a bit of a new lease of life.

One of my nephews has an identical one of these, also 1 previous (lady!) owner albeit with a significantly lower mileage.

At 21 it's his first car and he's learning a lot about maintenance along the way, as well as making some minor upgrades.
It appears there is a very strong community behind these.

Also, at 6 ft 3 and with 'tall' hair I'm amazed how well he fits biggrin

Biased to say from myself but - Good cars.

Yours being the facelift is benefited with stronger internals too.
In my few years of ownership I've not really encountered any issues.

If you're wanting a nice cheap upgrade, you can fit the "Yellow dot" RX8 ARB to them, which eliminates a lot of roll for a favorable price.

I collected the M3 from my Midlands The Man, and dropped the MX5 in. It's having various bushes changed, a clutch pedal assembly, the clutch master cylinder, oh and a new clutch. And an ABS sensor. May be going a bit OTT. MX5 parts seem so cheap compared to M ones.

It's nice to have such a simple, inexpensive car. Refreshing.

Enjoy but that’s a story we’ve all been involved in. Before you know it, outer sills become inner sills.

One for the off season…..

Great cars and a superb gear change, which combined with the handling and steering makes them a lot of fun!

Love the way these last NCs look, get some coilovers on it and enjoy it even more!

And once you've done that, I wonder for how long you'll manage to resist the urge of popping down to BBR for extra power biglaugh

I'm going to buy one of those BBR 200 ones! Already scouring the web...

Doesn't make sense overspending (well, beyond what I've done already) on this one. But I want to give it another few miles.
