Anyone else s wife obsessed with Christmas?
Discussion
My wife keeps banging on about Christmas, and although we’re not even halfway through October yet, I’m fed up with Christmas already.
I’m so fed up always discussing Christmas dinner, what we will have for mains, what we will have for desert, what times it will be served, etc. There’s only going to be 3 of us there so it doesn’t need to be some sort of thing planned with military precision. Honestly, I don’t even want to think about it until at least 2 weeks before.
And then there’s the presents. She’s already been buying stuff since July and wants me to clear a room in the house so she can store it all. She s got to buy gifts for everyone at her work, the next door neighbour, etc.
And she’s asking me to hurry up and decide what I want as time is running out, even though there s at least 8 weeks for me to decide what I want (I don t need anything).
I just can’t be arsed with Christmas, particularly this early and the more she goes on about it, the more grumpy I get.
I reckon Christmas is a thing mainly for women (and kids) to enjoy and a lot of men just aren’t that interested. Sure we enjoy a couple of days off work, and a beer, but all the men I know certainly don t give each other Christmas gifts, or even bother with a card.
Anyone else feel the same? Anyone else’s wife keep banging on about it and you re fed up already?

My wife isnt so much obsessed with Christmas as much as Christmas films and the channel for those infernal things.
However, i do work with a woman who is already asking if she can put Christmas decs up at work.
It’s always women at work that want to put up the Christmas decorations as well. However, i do work with a woman who is already asking if she can put Christmas decs up at work.
This year it’s all men I’m working with. I guarantee there won’t be a single Christmas decoration.
You're not the only one! I handle all the cooking for Christmas though, but she goes nuts with presents and cards and stuff, obsessing over who gets what and hoarding stuff in the months before (and often forgetting about it...)
The kids joke about me being a bit of a Scrooge, but I love Christmas. The difference is, I only love Christmas on the day itself and a few days before, not in bloody October
Food, drink, presents, guests, it's all great, what drives me up the wall is the b
d decorations. If she was left to it, the house would look like a branch of B&M, in November. Then the decorations get carefully packed away shoved in bags in the corner of the room or a wardrobe, ready for next year. Except they aren't, as she buys more tat for each year!
Last year I got a "real" tree which has the happy advantage of being biodegradable and doesn't need to be stored all year.
We're now living in a very old house so I'll be trying to convince her the best decorations for this year will be very traditional, actual holly and ivy from the garden, a tree, some paper chains perhaps and then this can all happily go in the garden bin in January
It won't work though!

Don’t get me started. Heart Christmas is all she has had on the radio since it went live last week. Daily begging me to let her put the decorations up. We will have conversations throughout the year about Christmas, trying to organise a precise timeline on what she wants to do. Even when sat in the garden in 30+ sun having a bbq.
She’s crazy when it comes to Christmas.

I grew up in a religious household (COE). Christmas was church, carol singing etc. Presents were token gifts and not extravagant.
I no longer do religion, but find the excesses very distasteful. My partner and I haven't done presents (other than a Lindt reindeer) for years.
For years I have wanted to go away, but the MIL has always issued a three line whip that we go to hers on Boxing Day and it used to be very present orientated. Almost all of what I received went to the charity shop in January.
Now MIL is housebound, we are saved the present buying, but still have to visit.

Thankfully not. The only discussion I've had is with a gamekeeper as I want some venison for Christmas Day - it'll be shot in November I should think.Males moaning about Christmas excess is highly novel and original
The nod towards people struggling was very un-PH though. Have they maxed out their ISAs?
M&S are doing a Beef Wellington for £195 this year, and I’m sure there’ll be a few on the powerfully built dining tables of the PH Shires.
