This has probably been covered already but is there a reliable adaptor to charge a Nissan Leaf on a home charging point? Previously we've had an e208 and an iX3 so had no problems but a Nissan Leaf has come up locally but the numbers are dependant on being able to get an adaptor to charge on the drive. Thanks in advance

Our Leaf charges without issue from either the 3pin plug cable supplied with the car or the type 2 connector on the Zappi.
No adaptor required

Thanks, I had heard that the Leaf had a chadamo connection which was different for domestic charging? I'm not looking to charge via a 3 pin socket given we've got a charging point on the side of the house already. Just looking for clarity before I go and look at the car tomorrow.

Early leafs had a Chademo connector. Yes you can get adapters.

The leaf has two ports .
Type two for home charging AC, and for fast charging the less common Chademo port DC .

If you have a 7Kw home charger it will be type two plug straight in no adapter required.

This is for cars up to 2026 where a new model comes in with type two and the regular DC charging port

I assume OP has a type 2 tethered charger which was OK for previous EVs but not a Leaf which is type 1.

You can buy type 1 to type 2 adapters for about £20 - £30, haven t tried one however even Halfords sell them so I assume they work and are safe!:

NB Chademo is for rapid DC charging- i.e. when at service stations etc, pretty much everything else is CCS now.

Yes its connecting to the 7kw wall box I'm trying to understand. I wont be doing public charging. My wallbox is untethered (we used the charging cables that came with each car for our previous e-208 and iX3 with no issues, so I'm just trying to understand if a Leaf will be the same.

You just need a type 2 to type 1 cable then, would hopefully come with the car else plenty of them about.

Edit: poster below is correct, later Leafs (MY2018 on) would need type 2 to type 2 (as per your previous EVs)

You will have to tell use which version of the Leaf you are looking to buy. The first generation 24 and 30kwh versions have 2 charging ports - one is type 1 and one is CHAdeMO. The second generation 40 and 62kwh versions also have 2 charging ports, but one is type 2 and one is CHAdeMO.

So if it's the first generation car, you'll need a type 1 to type 2 charging cable to connect to your wallbox. For a second generation car you'll need a type 2 to type 2 cable.

You'll only ever connect to the CHAdeMO port if you use public fast chargers with tethered cables of that type.

Thank you all, it's a 2023 model so seems like it'll connect to my home charger without any adapters needed.
