Hopefully this will be resolved and this post will become a hypothetical question, but I thought I'd ask.

Ordered a £75k car 10 weeks ago (I only mention the price for context here) Factory order due to the options I'd selected. Order form received at the time, with the correct options, and the total price. The car has now been delivered to the dealer.

However they're now telling me that heated seats are normally a £400 option (I can't see that, as they were part of one of the "packs" I optioned) and that I haven't been charged for those on the original order form. Maybe the pack was wrongly priced, I don't know. Dealer says he's fighting my corner to get this sorted in my favour.

My question is: if they don't, what would you do? I'll be tempted to walk and ask for my deposit back (£500) if they persist in trying to charge me the extra, and go elsewhere. Obviously that's cutting my own nose off to some extent, I'm without a proper car at the moment (I have transport but only for local stuff) but I don't like the feeling of being turned over.

Just curious what people think?

It's just a negotiation now innit.

Either, pay, or ask for a free service, or a keyring, or beg, or walk away.

You have the power.

Show them where it says they are one of the packs and ask them what they are talking about?

Why are u posting? If you can afford/PCP a 75k car surely you know it's a trivial negotiation where you hold all the cards?

Without knowing the car (I don’t want to though), we can’t navigate through the option packs available, and whether you have it in writing you’ve ordered heated seats properly or not.

If they were part of a pack you ordered and "paid" for then unless you have that wrong and it wasn't but they were still optioned and the car came with them ( which implies you are correct ) then there shouldn't even be a conversation.
If you were wrong then it's a case of debating the £400 cost which without knowing what deal you already did on the car is a bit difficult to comment on.
I certainly wouldn't be cutting my nose off though and as the car is now physical you would appear to be holding a lot of the cards anyway.

If its on the pack you ordered this is surely simple. EIther they fit what you paid form or they refund you the pack.

But I would not be spending £75k to not get heated seats!

I picked up the car has been delivered with the heated seats but they want an additional £400, no way would I be paying anything if order clearly shows the hated seats as part of pack ordered.

It is crazy though a £75k car does not come with heated seats as standard……..

I'm confused.

Is it #1 missing the heated seats you expected, or #2 it has them but the dealer is trying to sting you for an extra £400?

I would be double checking that the pack and heated seats did include heated seats which I presume the car actually has.

There is no way I would be paying the £400 - surely the dealer can resolve that pretty easily by waiving that part of the invoice.

I have the brochure from the time of order which outlines the items included in the pack which includes heated seats, so I don’t know where they’ve found this £400 charge from. Ideally as you say they’ll realise it’s their error either way. I just wonder whether they’re trying to gouge me now I’ve waited 10 weeks. Still waiting to hear back from the dealer.

The latter.

The latter.
12 weeks is hardly much time for a factory order anyway and I very much doubt they are trying to gouge you so sounds more like a simple case of human error.

I would be standing on I’m not paying for the heated seats on top of the agreed price.

Maybe there’s a deal to be done over first service being free in lieu of the additional cost of the seats? Maybe more or less than the cost of the seats, but if the dealer can’t waive the £400 cost on the seats they may have more flexibility over the service.

Don't the brochure and sales form have disclaimers along the lines of things/specs can vary etc etc.

Back in Ye Olden Dayfs, my Dad ordered a Corsa B for my sister and added ABS and a few other options. The ABS was a £400 option and the salesman admitted he had forgotten to charge for it. He suggest a very reasonable solution of £200 being taken out of his commission and my Dad pays the other £200.

Probably a BMW - they're fitted but you have to pay £400 to switch them on
