My 1993 chimaera 430 Speedo doesn’t work at all. And I’m baffled. There’s seems to be so many configurations with these cars it’s a minefield.

Ive tested the signal wire on the rear differential speed sensor with my multimeter and it measures some kind of voltage when the wheels are turning, so presuming this seems to be ok!?

I’ve check the wires for continuity from the diff speed sensor to the gauge and they are fine. I cannot find a black box for the speed signal wire that people talk about anywhere under the dash, the wires come out the gauge and into a connector then continue down in a big loom and further down under the dash.

I’ve removed and cleaned the sensor best I can, tried fitting it as close as possible in its housing to the Propshaft pickup flange hit the needle just will not move at all on the Speedo. Does it sound like the gauge itself is at fault as it seems to be getting some kind of signal? And can I test the gauge somehow without the sensor?

There is also a speed sensor in the side of the gearbox, does this feed the ecu? If so how can this also read 0 mph in rovergauge?

Many thanks in advance!

Tricky to diagnose, I would try the sensor first there are some cheaper alternatives that have been listed here.
Some report they need to be set really close to the trigger wheel to get a stable signal.
The earlier LT77 used 2 sensors as you may know, the diff one for speedo and the gearbox one for ecu speed feedback.
Can't answer the Rovergauge question sorry.
