My 2022 Volvo XC60 recharge ( which I have owned for a month) cracked its windscreen, so my insurance company (LV) relieved me of £140 and sent me to autoglass.
When there, they plugged the car in and found some faults relating to parking aid control unit/ front driver assist camera. They said they were therefore not allowed to touch it. As I’d only had it for a month it was back to the Volvo dealer I bought it from - they are Arnold Clark in Glasgow. They checked and cleared some codes and sent me on my way. Today was attempt no 2 at Autoglass, and guess what? Various codes showed up again. The car is booked into Arnold Clark again for next week, but I’m not confident that they’ll resolve it.
Autoglass seem to be LVs only recommended glass fitter. If I want to go anywhere else, I’ve got another £200 to pay, which I’d rather avoid.
Any good ideas/ foresights/ useful comments would be appreciated
Thanks in advance

If I was guaranteed an OEM windscreen, I would pay the £200 and get it done properly. The £125 difference buys precious little nowadays.

I’d be done with Autoglass for a start. Paid them the excess and they put the wrong screen in my Range Rover four times before I gave up.

It’s £200 difference, and why should oem be any different?

Just a thought but it might be worth contacting "Glassman" on here for some advice/assistance.

He has been very helpful with my screen trim issue.

When they plugged in, was that before they started work, or after the windscreen was replaced? If the latter, is it an aftermarket product?

Auto glass is the issue here. Absolute waste of time, liars, and a st job to boot.

Call your insurers and tell them you are using someone else. Mine capitulated after 4 months(!) of Auto glass shenanigans and sttery.

Autoglass are on the list of never again companies along with Talk talk, British Gas, nPower(as was) and Sky.

I have to admit, that would be my first thought, had similar in a Mazda a few years ago.

The auto wipers were a bit iffy, looked at the sensor and it wasn't closely sat on the screen, checked the screen it wasn't a Mazda one, called the dealer (we had only had it a couple of weeks) they argued blind that the car did not have a replacement screen as it was the Manager's wife's car.

Cue a trip to the dealer and I checked the screen on every other MD car on the forecourt, all were Mazda screens, mine wasn't, so I got the Manager out & dug my heels in due to their argument and blatant lying and got them to change the screen.

I've read other threads on Autoglass and service good or bad dependent on fitter and depot.

We had our Volvo XC40 screen replaced by Autoglass and they did a perfect job. Heated screen and all sensors fine. However, I insisted they used a genuine Volvo screen and they obtained approval from LV to do so.

Autoglass won't fit a new screen if there are existing sensor faults. Once they change the screen the faults become their problem.

I suffered the same on the same car earlier this year, my insurer (AA) stated I had to use their approved fitter Auto Windscreens or pay the difference. My car has the heated windscreen and the difference was over £1k, so I reluctantly went with Auto Windscreens.

Replacement screen is a Pilkington, they stated this is OEM as "Volvo don't make windscreens, they are all made by aftermarket companies", which may be true, but the heated elements don't clear the window as quickly so it's different. The black shade band around the edges is also different.

Cameras and all of that stuff calibrated fine and I've done about 10k miles since with no issues with the safety stuff. The actual fitting was poor as they missed about 7 or 8 trim clips under the bonnet ("they must've popped out on the way home" - what, all of them!) and both sides of the A-pillar trim needed to be refitted as they weren't sitting flush at the roofline. Any questions about the screen being fitted correctly and water draining via the correct channels under the bonnet after were met with a bad attitude.

This was in Glasgow also so if Auto Windscreens are offered as an alternative, don't go to them!

Next time, I'd pay the difference and go to Volvo and hope for a better experience.

It must depend on which Autoglass you use. They replaced the windscreen in my I-Pace last year and reset all the electronic settings perfectly. I would have no problem using them again.

The car is booked into Volvo next week, so, apart from checking for fault codes, I’ll speak to them about the windscreen I think

Did Volvo confirm why the codes were stored?
Simply clearing them and sending you on your way doesn't fix the initial issue!
