New Kitchen costs
Discussion
We're in the process of getting quotes for our new kitchen. We're in the Kent area and looking for an in frame shaker, ideally hand painted.
So far the quotes have been on the expensive side and I can't help but thinking there must be a more budget friendly approach.
Our current favourite is a local carpenter who'll build everything from scratch using egger carcasses and hidrofugo doors. His quote is coming in at just over £40k cabinetry only for about 10m cabinetry run, a small 1.4m wide utility room and a 3mx1m island. The quote also includes oak dovetail drawers which we're keen on.
As we're having building work done and we have 3 alcoves and some awkward angles, we don't really want to go down the DIY kitchens route. We also aren't keen on seeing the grain through the paint so ash doors are no no.
Handmade kitchens of Christchurch look ideal but I'd need someone to design, measure up and project manage the whole thing including fitting and painting.
Has anyone been in this situation before and what approach did you end up taking?

We had a handmade kitchen two years ago. Used one company end to end, handmade kitchens in Pickering. Unit's were £23k including fitting and painting, Silestone worktops were £4.5k, building work approx £3k, floor tiling inc tiles £4k and then appliances. Decorating and tiling was DIY. Total was just over £40k. The kitchen was a stable originally and nothing was straight or level, there were two many compromises with designs of off the shelf units and the bespoke design was perfect for us.

We have ordered ours from Handmade Kitchens of Christchurch. I think only the Martin Moore ones we looked at were 'better', but there would have been a 3-4 fold increase in price. HMKoC have 4 50% off sales a year, so you won't have to wait long for one
Yes handmade kitchens of Christchurch look to be a good option but I'm not sure where to begin with them. I've been looking for project managers who have end to end experience of their kitchens in my area but I don't think such a person exists Mr MXT said:
We ve just gone through this - kitchen prices seem to have gone up since we last did one 6 years ago.
We wanted solid carpentry etc etc, ended up going with Tom Howley, £49k (they had a sale on!) Inc appliances
Your quote does seem expensive, ours slightly bigger, but not much.
Tom Howley have a flash sale on at the moment apparently with significant reductions but I'm thinking even with those reductions my carpenter is likely to be cheaper We wanted solid carpentry etc etc, ended up going with Tom Howley, £49k (they had a sale on!) Inc appliances

We did a kitchen 6 years ago so was expecting £30k. Costs have since gone up.
I put a deposit on a Tom Howley yesterday for the new house.
Ok so your £49k is from the current flash sale? Does that include worktops too and did you negotiate the price down worth them?We did a kitchen 6 years ago so was expecting £30k. Costs have since gone up.

Depending where you are in Kent, we used JMInteriors who did all the design for our kitchen split over two rooms in a 400 year old house. The cabinetry is excellent and lines up with the uneven walls perfectly, the cost was about 40k four years ago including all appliances, new lighting and painting the rooms. They’ve got a couple of nice showrooms featuring the different woods they work with.
