Phone mounts on Graydon Era - Vantage

Got the 2009 vantage manual roadster recently and trying to find the best place to put a phone mount. Can I put a suction cup/fixed phone mounts on the piano black trim - any experience? I've seen people put air vents mounts but since it blocks vents i don't want to go that route. Also anyone able to hide charging cable behind the waterfall trim or somewhere else? Looking for cleaner look without jeopardizing the car.

I still have some movement in the air vent less vertical but plenty from side to side. Importantly it wasn’t needing to be stuck to anything, I’ve run the cable down the skipped dash and along into centre console armrest where I’ve used a cirgarette lighter usb adapter to give it power.

It’s very secure and has a strong magnet so phone never falls off it.

As a revolutionary and outlandish concept, what would happen if you just switched the phone off and left it on the passenger seat? Or do you use it for navigation?

It is quite fun to see how far the OEM sat nav can get you towards your destination on the old maps, but sometimes it is useful to have Waze.

Waze and Spotify. I would love not to have it but a quick glance at it to see how sharp the next bend is or whether the regional constabulary have kindly positioned a photo opportunity for my safety is ever more important.

I currently have one installed on the piano black waterfall; it obscures the passenger vent and frankly looks shyte. Has anyone stuck a mount to the front quarterlight window? Might swap it over and see if it works...
