I've drained it from the other side, and undone the top of the nut, it won't go down any further. Is it a case of just using force to pull/release it from within the valve or am I 'undoing' it the wrong way?

I'm assuming there is a small pipe from the bottom of the rad into the valve.

Would really like to avoid draining the entire system for one rad.

Thanks!

It doesn't look as if that top nut is undone. To loosen it you need to turn it anti clockwise. And yes - there is a short pipe "tail" from the towel rail into the valve.

Once loosened you should be able to pull the valve down away from the towel rail.

Do you mean the bit covered in PTFE? I need to get that off then. The but just under it was undone, but I may well have done it the wrong way.
