Accidents where you think how did I ever do that

I reverse off my drive everyday , normally 1/2 am , pitch black & never a issue , owned the house for 20 yrs , today 7.30 am , light , and I’ve somehow reversed and hit the fence , it looks I’ve somehow thought the fence panel between two concrete posts was the exit from the drive , not the actual exit , you just stand there thinging how is this possible , god know what I was seeing .
Wife enjoyed it , he who never does any wrong comes a cropper , no doubt she will have it noted down for future reference , luckily it was the panel I caught , so bumper popped back in , bit of brown fence stain cleaned off , and a £36 new fence panel sorts the job , but I’m still think how did I do that !!

These thing start happening when you get older.

PH response - you're a threat to yourself and others, hand in your driving licence immediately, shouldn't be on the road etc.

A couple of months ago I was driving my discovery with cattle trailer out of our parking area and went straight into the side of a car that was driving down the private lane in front of our house.

Discovery was unaffected, but the A class needed a couple of new doors! I maintain they were going too fast, but it probably wouldn’t have stopped the incident.

I think I was concentrating on the trailer…

I scraped my bumper the other day, as I blindly trusted the rear parking sensors.

Their warnings go from intermittent tone/dashed green lines (>3ft away)...intermittent tone/dashed amber lines (>2ft away)...intermittent tone/dashed red lines (>1ft away), then continuous tone/red lines when you're 1ft from the obstacle.

Was reversing into a parking spot at some heritage line railway station, waiting for the beep to change into a continuous tone, so beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-beep, beep-beep-crunch!!!

Went straight from beeping to crunch with no solid tone in between.

Moved forward slightly, got out and saw the light scuff. Waved my hand across the sensors and they all seemed to be working as they should, so I've no idea what glitched! But it's a 10 year old BMW, so I'm starting to get used to electrical gremlins that leave no trace!
