Villa near the airport - how close is too close?

I've been looking at Villas to rent in Greece and I've found one that looks really nice, but it's only 3Km from the end of the runway. It's also pretty much directly aligned with the runway, so approaching planes at least will fly more or less overhead. There are, according to google, around 120 flights per day evenly split between departures and arrivals.
I'm erring on the side of no, but I'd be interested in any opinions.

We lived 14 miles from Gatwick and depending on wind direction would get low and constant planes overhead, quite noisy .
We moved now 25 miles from Gatwick and depending on wind direction, you can guess the next bit .
My pall lives 4 miles from Gatwick and it's not as noisy as it is here .

That's close. Until you live on a flight path you can't comprehend what a pain in the arris it is and we live 10k away.
Our airport only does about 30 commerical a day plus the rest and trust me thats too much. Every morning we're woken up by the 6 am ryainair something or other taking off and at 1am the last one is flying directly over us to land..in the summer its not great.
My niece lives 800 metres away and off to one side, its horrific. I'm not sure its something you'll get used to quickly.
The airport in question is Rhodes. The villa is in Theologos.
We're going to look for somewhere else. There appears to be plenty of last minute availability. We want comfort, a sea view, walkable to the beach and more than one taverna. It doesn't need to be Rhodes, but it does need to have reliable weather in the 1st half of October.

Stayed at a hotel in Golf del sur Tenerife. Looking on the map at the Tenerife south airport and the hotel it looks similar distance to your airport and the villa.
I can't say it really bothered me other than seeing a few low flying planes.
I wouldn't ever go back but that was the hotel and clientele nothing to do with the planes.

I suspect that being under the flight path is far more of a concern than general proximity to the airport.
I live less than 2 miles to the NW of Orlando International. The runways are oriented north/south. We can see, but not hear inbound traffic from the north and depending on wind direction can barely hear departing northbound aircraft.
However, when we have inclement weather to the north, flights taking off to the north frequently deviate and fly directly over our neighborhood - probably passing overhead at around 1000-1500 feet - and these planes are loud.
So if the property is under the flight path and close to the end of the runway, my experience tells me there'll be a lot of aircraft noise and maybe even some JetA1 exhaust smell.
