Now, read this first....then ask yourself........
(From the BBC news website, by the way)

MoD man left gun at Sainsbury's
A Ministry of Defence worker mislaid his automatic pistol in the toilets of a Sainsbury's store, say police.
The weapon, a Sig Sauer 9mm, was left at the store in Bancroft, Hitchin, on Saturday evening and has so far not been found, said Hertfordshire Police.

A police spokesman said the weapon was loaded with 13 rounds of blank ammunition, but could cause injury.

Police have been searching areas near the store and have advised members of the public not to touch it.

Anyone with information about the weapon is asked to call Hertfordshire Police.

'MoD man?' do us a favour.....he's either an armed plod, a spook, or one of the Hereford irregulars, don't you think?:shoot:

Well, he left it in the bog, so he's probably regular.

Loaded with blanks?

What use is that in the fight against terrorism?

saying it's loaded with blanks and actually loading it with blanks are two different things...

An update: "A man was found dead after reading press releases about the gun being loaded with blanks. Police are not looking for anyone else."

Dumb stuff like this happens all the time, I remember when some cops lost a 12guage shotgun out the boot of their car (loaded, and not with blanks) after it 'fell out'(!), amazingly some good samaritan found it and tried to return to the police station, only to be almost arrested himself

Also the military regularly 'lose' stuff. One guy managed to pilfer enough helicopter spare parts that he was making a helicopter in his backyard!

Also loads of guns and grenades go missing, usually traded for drugs with bikers and other gangs.

Frankly if I found that SIG-Sauer I'd probably pocket it and not give it back, at least I know I can be responsible with it. Plus a SIG is a rather tasty gun, like finding a Porsche with the keys in the ignition and no one around

Oh yes. My PE teacher 'shot' me with a .22 starting pistol.
It was one of those things that takes the blanks in a slide that feeds in from front to rear, and the gas discharge goes out of the top of the gun.
He pointed it at my chest (point-blank), I looked down, he pulled the trigger.
Got the whole lot in my face.

I couldn't see for an hour, he must have been sh!tting himself.
I went home, told my mother who tut-tutted a bit and got on with making the tea.
Nowadays I'd have had to have counselling, there'd be an investigation, jobs would be lost, compo would be paid...

Bet you never did that again, eh Mr. Barker? You c**t.

How far did he get with it? Can you find a ling to the story for me?

MOD are always mislaying things that they should be taking better care of! If companies had security lapses like that people would get fired.

I have to ask though what strange fantasy he was having that he felt the urge to take out his automatic pistol in a public bathroom, surly this is one of those things you keep safely?

Did they explain WHAT he was doing with it in the first place, was he supposed to have it for example.

But in all sincerety, the fact that someone obviously found it, and nicked it, is very worrying itself, isnt it?

Hope the MOD man is bloody well charged for something or another.

Errr...no, not unless one calls all automatic pistols Colt/Browning ripoffs. P226 is double action with decocker (the lever at the front of the grip panel), whereas Colt M1911A1's and Browning Hi Power are both single action.

Read in the paper today the culprit was a female soldier...

What you really need is a bit of bling...

(O.K. it's my BB gun, but it's big, heavy and looks the part)

The papers are reporting it as a Woman who left it in the disabled toilets not a man.

I've fired a sig P228 pistol and it was nice. not a BHP rip off as its double action with a decocker altough at some point most pistols have some of Brownings design in them.
Id prefer a ED Brown Cobra carry myself

probably wasn't loaded with blanks, the authorities don't want to alarm the masses too much than is necessary
