Merely wondering if the recent thread about the £8k hotel bill settlement, Scottish house purchase etc has been deleted as it did turn out to be a scam, gutted for the OP if that was the outcome.

The OP has requested deletion himself, covering his tracks.

Sadly I think it was all a scam which the OP didn’t want to accept and thus asked for its deletion.

Interesting that if you Google it there's a Google AI summary.

If you ask Google AI directly it will give you the full detailed history of the entire thing from start to end.

For extra amusement the link it generated to the original deleted thread had the George Agdgdgwngo photo as the thumbnail.

Wow. I can't believe it went that far. I never engaged with the thread as it sounded far fetched from the get go.

What terms specifically might one search for to find this summary?

Hopefully somebody needs to let the Original OP know because it was "very close to going legal!" so he needs to get onto Google.....

You could try "pistonheads thread started by dsliverpool which turned out to be a fraud perpetrated against him, in which he was incredibly rude to other posters, and he eventually had deleted when he realised he'd been ripped off"

Though that's a pretty fair summary in itself.

If you vary the search terms a bit you get different variations of the story.

One of them says the thread was started by Welshbeef!

Maybe it knows something? smile

Isn't Google AI a wonderful tool for providing a summary of the deleted discussion!

I didn't read the original thread but that "AI Overview" is diabolically vicious.

On a serious point hope the bloke is OK. That doesn't sound nice.

I followed the original 2 threads with great interest - well, the second one was the really interesting one, but the first one provided some good context.

I suspect I might be one of the few that thinks there's a chance (a very small chance admittedly) that it wasn't actually a scam after all.

I do think it would be very noble of the OP to come back on here in a few months and report on the final outcome.

It was titled “Recommend Scottish Solicitor for Personal Debt Recovery”

I did flag on the original thread that the house in question had a stratospheric value for the area, probably a higher amount than any house ever in a wide vicinity, as I'm not too far away from it. But this seemingly didn't cause the poster to question at all what was going on, so what can one do.

Ah yes - I recall responding to a thread about "property solicitor in Scotland", trying to be helpful and his response was a bit curt/condescending. Oh dear what a shame.

Even PH mods can't ban AI...

It gives me 'The story you’re looking for is the viral Facebook post by comedian Limmy... This is a humorous, fictional anecdote, not a news article. It circulated widely on social media because of the absurd combination of events and the inclusion of the instantly recognisable George Agdgdgwngo image.'

I had another go...

First I put in 'property solicitor in Scotland'

And got a property solicitor in Scotland. Doh.

But Copilot then asked me if it was on a forum, and if so which one. So I said 'Pistonheads'.

Copilot replied:

'Ahh — PistonHeads. That makes everything click into place. You’re remembering one of those classic PH‑style “What’s all this about then?” threads where someone links to a bizarre social‑media post and the regulars pile in with detective work, sarcasm, and mild chaos.'

Pretty accurate!
