Opened some JSIPPs, around 10k in each currently.

They were in a cheap global tracker but as they were over 25% in the usual 5-6 Tech companies thought it was time to move things around. Fully aware that it would be fine in this timescale, but probably better options out there at the moment.

I would like to just set this up and walk away, at some point in the future innit going to be able to manage it.

If you were setting up a multi decade investment what would be your mix?

I wouldn't deviate from a cheap global equity index fund, accumulation units.

You say 40 year investment ?

Just for fun, I'd pick one stock. Something solid which on average doesn't see much growth in share price and only gas a mediocre dividend would work fine...

And I'd target putting about £4k in it and twice a day I'd watch the fluctuations in price. Put the data in a spreadsheet.

Then I'd be calculating the average fluctuation on a daily and weekly basis, and setting automatic sell and automatic buy at a prices you know that the stock regularly fluctuates between.

Obviously over time these points will change.

Once you've paid the admin fees of buying and selling you only need to make say 1% from each "sell - buy back" cycle once a week to make 50%.

Let someone else do the hard work on the rest of your fund in a tracker fund or whatever, but over 40 years you might find that £4k does a fk lot better than any of them.

Note. I was contracting via a Ltd company for a while and £45k ended up in a SIPP.
Started a permie job 3 years ago and that £45k is currently £100k. I don't want to be smug, because I could equally have fked up and turned it into £3.55...

But that £55k is bringing my retirement age down by 2 years.. hopefully....

That’s about as far away as possible from 'setting it up and walking away' as it could be.

As ever, this is the answer.
