Hi All

Going to a concert in July 2027 at the London stadium.

Any advice on where to stay - ideally jump on the tube and find a cheaper hotel down the line to avoid the £300 a night hotels at Stratford / Westfield but is it a nightmare getting out of there as the crowds flood out ?

Thanks

It would be rather helpful if you share your starting point and initial mode of transport

I know quite a few people who stay in the Premier Inn in Brentwood (which is the old Amstrad HQ right by the station). Only about 20 mins from Stratford and half the price of similar offerings closer by.

A lot is going to depend on what side of the stadium /akd or gate you’re leaving by and what time ?

A few good questions. 3 of us, so driving is cheaper than the train and probably easier as we would be coming into Waterloo from Southampton area. I’ve done the journey before and parked at Stratford however traffic might be fun on Friday night.

Not sure if I care about spending any time in London the next day but my daughter might!

I can’t see the gate on the ticket unfortunately.

Lots of parking there too. 35 mins train direct to Stratford, 10 mins off J28 M25. You would however have to cross the bridge. Does Abbey Wood make any sense?

If it's a big event, public transport is managed well but just the sheer volume of people will mean tubes etc will be slow to get to. I park at Stratford International car park and thats been fine but again, it can take a little bit to get out, even though there is no barrier, as the surrounding roads are closed off due to all the people. It might be best to wait around for an hour or so after the event finishes and then everything transport wise is back to BAU.

It’s all well organised upon leaving and they tend to have a queuing system for the crowds and a one way system within Stratford Station itself on event nights with the small Gibbins Road entrance closed (bear this in mind if you leave the station by this exit).

I’d stay somewhere east on the Elizabeth Line around Brentwood or, heaven forbid, Romford as most will be hitting the tube lines and heading in to London for the mainline stations.

Brentwood does look like a reasonable option, will investigate.

I've stayed in the Docklands area for London Stadium a couple of times - not overpriced, very easy access via the DLR. Lots of hotels there.

If you do stay in Brentwood you've also the option of the quicker trains to Shenfield as most of those going to Chelmsford, Colchester & Southend etc stop there. You can then cross to the Elizabeth Line and go one stop back (otherwise it's many, many stops from Strat - B'wood).

The Premier Inn's located opposite/across the road from the station.

Edited to add: there's also an Ibis at Seven Kings, which is adjacent to the TFL station & five stops from Stratford. Not sure what the parking situation would be.

Had a proper look at Brentwood, looks good but Romford is 10 mins nearer so only 21 mins on the way home. Ive been to Brentwood, quite nice from what I remember, Romford I’m guessing not so much but I only plan to sleep, eat breakfast and leave!
