Ducati choices
Discussion
There are a lot of Monsters about for that kind of budget if you don't want a Superbike.
My Ducati Sport Tourer is older, but the Desmoquattro engine has been OK to work on, doing my own belt changes and valve checks.
Not needed to change any shims in 20,000 miles.
I used to commute on it, so it has had some clutch fettling!
This isn't the only Ducati I've owned, I've not had huge problems with any of them.
As ever, your real budget needs to be total cost of ownership inc servicing.
For the older bikes, there was/is a huge amount of info and 'community' support for anything you need to do.
I'm not up to speed with newer bikes.
There are also lots of indy specialists.

I do like Tuono V4
You'll get bored of the costs associated with it quicklymilu said:
But also fancy Ducati. Always had a thing for a Diavel but also like the older Streetfighter. Quite different I know
Same as abovemilu said:
I m only looking around £6k price point
Any thoughts or experiences?
Cheers
make sure, you'll have a decent test ride, that certainly you'll love for the first 3 minutes, learn them being too "different" (unrefined, heavy) from S1000r etc, but "horses for courses", and since you've kinda leaving refinement criteria- "weapon" behindAny thoughts or experiences?
Cheers
lesser downgrade would be Trumpet Speed Triple, perhaps?

Costs like what? They'll be cheaper to run than a lot of Ducatis
Tuono V4, just servicing, that you can't no longer do... TBF on any ANW, then running costs... suppose more or less the same as any Dukies, which is near the same as BM's . Just the lad I know, took his £4.5k worth Tuono for servicing wasn't happy with wait for a month for consumables and "mere" £1.9k bill later... expensive hobby, as to saymilu said:
Leather waistcoat too??
Must bear insignia:"Blue Oyster Club"
or"Camp Riders"
or "Butch Patrol"
Or... I'll get my coat

Re service costs
The Diavel I ve secured has had the big belt service done and is up to date. I m sure something will come up though
Hope you did proper test rode it? whilst for speed it might beat S1000r, it is significantly heavier beast at slower riding- "diving about in town and cities", expensive toy, but understandably loved, enjoy it! Yikes. Was that at an Aprilia dealer or what? Was there an expensive issue with it? John D. said:

regular (major 12k) servicing, due to him getting to rider her bit on a aggressive side and developed "lack of power issue"... and the games began... every single consumable, he kept on waiting for weeks.... to the point that something electronic (not ECU) was found to be faulty... hence the bill. he's not exactly counting pennies, was moaning over the wait more, than the cost of it, he'll never get back and ...nothing as how she's been dropping the power gain past mid revs....
Been trying to decide what to do with my monster 1200. It’s really gotten under my skin, but having problems with my knees so isn’t the most comfortable for me at the moment. 2019, FSH, belts done last year, just under 8k miles, it’s a base spec 1200 but has the Ducati quickshifter, low owners etc, but I’d be nearer the £7k mark but it needs for nothing and is immaculate. The only thing replacing it would be another Ducati but a little more upright.

Depending on condition and luck, regardless of price/value they seem to have gone out of fashion somewhat. Used to see them way more often on the roads, way less later years thoughGone out of fashion? In what sense?
I agree you don't see the 1200 all that often, more so the 821, but the 1200 is the last of the big monsters with that trellis frame and single sided swing arm, so feel like they are more sought after. As with any Ducati, you've got to be in the market for one, or something Italian as per the OP request. You wouldn't throw a 821 in the mix for a commuter with an SV650, Hornet etc.
