That looks really good. I remember when the original came out and test rode one. Had an original Z900 too in 1976. Certainly looks-wise, I think Honda have done a slightly better job with the heritage style than Kawasaki. And certainly if I was in the market for a naked, both would be on my shortlist. To my eyes, these all look like ‘proper’ bikes. I’ve never really come to terms with the looks of adventure bikes, short and tall stuff, and things that look like an insect. The CB and Z are both fine looking bikes.
Hope the op really enjoys it , but for me I’d buy the hornet & save my self a couple of thousand pounds , Idid similar with the z900 v z900 rs , I couldn’t see £3,500 difference in that case , but if it was a choose between the z900rs & the cb1000f I’d pick the Honda as I prefer the styling , and the riding position looks more what I like , whereas I didn’t like the rs .

I test rode one of these yesterday. I adore the looks and hoped it would be a replacement for my since departed and much missed CB1100.
It's a different flavour of bike to the CB1100 so perhaps slightly unfair to compare, but here's my brief thoughts;
Good
The engine sounds mega, and is super torquey & bright
Chassis feels lovely & neutral - keen to tip in
Damping is good - firm but controlled, and I wasn't bounced out of the seat on a rough undulating road at speed
Riding position is comfortable
Not so good
The throttle response at low speed and on/off is horribly snatchy, and not linear - it's really quite poorly mapped
You can tell the engine has Fireblade origins, as it really prefers being ridden hard - the whole bike still had a slightly frenetic feel to me
The brakes are good but perhaps lack a bit of progression (might just be the example I rode)
While I liked it I didn't love it, and I've made the mistake of buying a bike before that I liked rather than loved, so didn't go any further. I can't justify the price (even though it's pretty reasonable) on something that I'm not going to love like the CB1100, sadly.

I was only on it for 45 minutes but it’s a comfy thing. I really don’t like wrist heavy bikes.If you’re after all day comfort I’d probably spec the touring seat, the standard one is a little firm.
