Update on VW Golf - Jap Import - Mileage Discrepancy

The dealer has issued a full refund. There was a lot of disagreement back and forth. The dealer said all cars come in through ‘warranted mileage’ and have HPI checks done, car vertical and AutoTrader checks. I said whilst that’s fine, these only pull from UK data sources.
He’s never heard of CarVX and I’ve also recommended BIMTA and Jevic to him in case of future sales of imported vehicles.
He couldn’t show me the sourcing paperwork for the vehicle as it breached ‘GDPR’. He has it booked in for a VW ECU check (where the mileage can be pulled from different places) - I said I had one booked in with VW myself but they had even told me a truly good clocker can change mileage data everywhere.
But the main thing is, he seemed disappointed at selling me a potentially clocked car and said he’d do business with me again. As I said in my previous post, he seemed a trustworthy guy, but unfortunately we agreed to disagree on the mileage it had done.
We had a look under the car just before I left, after processing my refund but again, this doesn’t explain CarVX discrepancy.
He didn’t have any auction sheets as they buy it from another place, not directly import it themselves.

Then he was arguing there’s lack of data on the Car VX report (car was 2015 model, CarVX only goes back to 2022 for mileage), then saying it was odd how both recorded mileage data was “rounded numbers”
Maybe he wasn’t aware of any of it.

They all hide behind GDPR. If he hadn't even heard about CarVX what's the betting he hasn't read a single GDPR.
He’s either playing dumb or just doesn’t know. I think he should reconsider how he approaches second hand imports he supposedly buys from a reputable ‘warranted mileage’ dealership lolJANCar1998 said:

Maybe! Who knows, what is done is done now though. Sadly just means I need to look out again for another car and I am useless! Many buyers would have only found out years down the line when they came to sell/PX.
