Breath Deflectors

Having a chat with my boss who has recently passed his test (Three of us in the office all did our tests at the same time).

He wears glasses and has a pinlock in his HJCI71 helmet but says his glasses are constantly steaming up, as well as his sun visor when he has that down.

We're looking at breath deflectors, but none of us have any experience of them so wondered whether they actually work?

Sadly though, a lot of the helmets I have now the cushion inserts are a nylon material and it wont adhere to the inside of the lid. What lid is it going into.

Does it have to be a specific one for that helmet or are there universal ones available? The only ones I can find for that helmet are either in USA or Canada.

I'll try new Velcro strips this weekend and see if it works on my lids. They should be universal.

I have worn glasses all my life and found some breath deflectors can make things worse, certainly on some of the helmets I've had that came with breath guards, they were better without them fitted, therefore leaving more space around the nose/mouth for air to circulate. The breath deflector seemed to be worse sending moist air up around the bottom of my glasses.

The pinlock has improved things vastly, but I still clean my glasses with anti fog spray on a regular basis, along with the inside of the sun visor. Not before every ride, probably every month or so. I have used many brands of anti fog over the years, but in recent times have some Muc Off branded spray just because it came in a helmet cleaning kit I got for xmas a few years back.

I used to use foggy masks before the proliferation of Pinlocs. I can attest to their effectiveness, but as moanthebairns said, they don’t Velcro well to modern helmet interiors. I successfully copydexed some Velcro to the cheek pads of an AGV about 15 years ago which did work, but now all my lids are fine with just a Pinloc installed.

40 years of a folded large men’s handkerchief tied ‘Dick Turpin’ style and never fogged a visor or glasses. Old school rocks sometimes, though they do get a bit clammy in winter

Wipe a little neat fairy liquid on the glasses and sun visor to help stop them fogging.

Maybe ride with the visor just cracked open a little. Something like a cable tie or tight rolled sticky tape to stop the visor fully shutting so it lets a little air flow in.

I tried a foggy breath deflector, for me the above works better.
