Just read the handouts for a multi-cultural management course I've got to in France next week and it says we've got to bring a gift with us, something British. I was thinking book tokens...

Any thoughts?

Note: It's in France. I work for a French company. I don't get on with the French (or they don't get on with me. Whatever.). Sounds like a barrel of laughs.

Fridge magnets. Didn't we invent them or something?

Simple thing would be to take a box of roses chocs as that's what I always buy when I can't think of anything nice/ nasty to buy someone.

Pork scratchings should go down well or black pudding, lol. Failing that, they won't appreciate cold fish and chips.

On a serious note I wonder what would really be a cool gift?

There'll be delegates there from Asia, USA, France, Oz, etc. So if it's going to insult anyone, its got to insult everyone.

International brotherhood, and a good bottle of malt whisky.

The whisky could lead to international brotherhood, or an international incident - could be good for a laugh

Mugs with the London olympics logo would do it for the French but cant see the others being bothered.
How about Maggie Thatchers autobiography, that would have something in it to piss everyone off!!

There's lots of speed cameras in France - not that it makes much of a difference, they still don't know how to drive.

How about a nice model of HMS Victory (or one of many books)? Ive just read somewhere that 21st October is 200 years to the day for the Battle of Trafalgar.

Should go down well...pun intended

Surely the best present from good ol' blighty has already been chosen by our very own vixpy1. The Wing'd Horse of Chavtat!!!

Show them what passes for a high quality ornament in britain.

The suggestion of a bottle of whisky is also good. Try Tobermory or one of my locals, Glengoyne or Auchentoshan.
