To be backed up by an emergency phone alert to make sure you have a tin-opener no doubt.
Its fine, Fraudster Louise Haigh is in charge.

At last! the covid hoarders can venture into the overstuffed basement to survey their stash.
Then be terrified back upstairs by the spider empire that has taken over lol.

Just invest in a shotgun and when the apocalypse comes, you simply pop to your neighbours and take theirs!

Any self-respecting 'prepper' will already be implementing a stock rotation policy.

BBC no doubt to shortly report bottled water and toilet roll shortages after panic buying.

Wow, so you’re going to do what 99.9999% of the country will be doing.

Have a gold star.

People? Mencken wouldn't bat an eyelid about govt emissions including hoary old scary messages! More importantly, when clustering round nanny state's nipples, avoid ingesting govt glue. For the following, add exggerating Grauniad on-message journalists as a potent subset.

Conscription 18-40 ish is on the horizon so hide now before it's too late. Apart from that, use disposable gloves on your exterior door handles and don't pick up / use discarded perfume bottles. You know it makes sense.

What bothers me is the likely panic behaviour that leads to chaos at petrol pumps.

Our supply chain capacity for things like fuel, toilet paper etc is far smaller than the storage capacity for individuals. Thankfully there is at least a storage constraint for fuel for most people, but for many items there isn’t.

The very nature of it “ suddenly “ being published complete with no doubt clarifications and further advice “ not to panic “ just causes people to err panic.
If people stopped to think for a second they probably already have sufficient toilet rolls and tinned food to last for the 3 days spoken about.
Bottle water too perhaps ?
Are the general public really that daft to need being told this ?
