Bugatti reveals 'one-of-one' restored Veyron

20-year-old Bug looking a little tired these days? Look what Molsheim can do with the right motivation...

Does the Bugatti Veyron count as a classic supercar yet? Certainly it seems almost quaint against the latest breed seen this month. Just internal combustion providing the power, without electric assistance (albeit four turbos and 16 cylinders), a regular old DSG (not pretending to be a manual), and no track aspirations whatsoever. Sounds almost simple against the current crop, even if a machine as advanced as the Veyron is probably a little way from the old-school supercar mantle just yet.

Either way, it has now been around for 20 years, and time will take its toll whether a car is stored or driven. So to mark the anniversary (and show off exactly what the factory is capable of) Bugatti has made this - the La Maison Pur Sang 20 Years. LMPS is Bugatti’s restoration service, actually launched back in 2020 but having taken a back seat of late with the wild Solitaire commissions seemingly taking precedence. Now, with the Veyron having hit its big milestone, expect a few more to enjoy the La Maison Pur Sang treatment. Which, to quote Bugatti, is to ‘preserve, restore, refine and, where designed, reimagine a Bugatti for the present day.’

Even this one hasn’t escaped a little of the latter. Maybe wheels and paint don’t quite count as a full-on reimagination, but using new techniques and materials to inject some contemporary attitude into something senior is certainly some of the way there. So while the wheels are the familiar ‘Machiavelli’ design, here they’re Chiron-sized: 20-inch front and 21-inch rears usefully beef up the stance. Or, to put it properly, ‘bring a more modern posture to the car while retaining a clear visual connection to the Veyron’s quintessential design language.’ Also upgraded are the intakes, with a new mesh, which makes it seem much more modern than expected from such a minor alteration.

The colours also weren’t available in the mid-'00s, and are again a feature that surely would have proved popular. Specifically, they are Rouge Rembrandt (which is coming for the Tourbillon) and Petrol Blue from the Chiron.

The interior is perhaps even more special, exquisitely redone in Magnolia; who wants boring old grey Alcantara when you could sit in this palace? Note as well the ‘Moccasion’ stitching on the wheel and gearlever, plus the anniversary emblem, then the pièce de résistance: the Côte de Genève finish for the dash, a technique usually reserved for watches and pretty much unprecedented on such a large scale. Don’t be surprised if one or two more La Maison Pur Sang Veyrons go for similar, the gorgeous metal working a treat with the light upholstery.

Bugatti’s Design Director Frank Heyl added: “With the La Maison Pur Sang program, we are preserving the essence of each Bugatti, while giving owners the opportunity to bring a new dimension of personal expression to their car and bring an automotive icon into new light. With this exquisite example of the Veyron, La Maison Pur Sang further elevates the exceptional opportunities that it offers”. So you’ll be wanting a blank canvas to be working with, then - and what better Veyron to send to La Maison Pur Sang than an actual Pur Sang? There was never any paint to begin with…

Oh god, what an awful colour combo. Are they serious?
Worst looking Veyron ever

Light-colour dashboards are great...

... until it is sunny.

It amuses me that car manufacturers must have derided the modified scene of the 90s/00s and its 'fit massive wheels and lower it' approach to anything and everything, yet now that appears to be standard industry practice tongue out

Like a tailored suit. A masterpiece watch. Take care of and refurbish and it’s timeless. Pagani does much the same - send the car back for a refresh and revamp.

As comment above though. Light color dash is fine at times - like not when driving - but when driving the glare is awful

Let's be honest though the main reason for making the wheels larger is so they can fit Chiron tyres, and ditch the PAX system wheels.

I think the red or blue and black Veyrons are the classic colour schemes-they look best in them to me (like a lot of launch colours do).

The stitching is beautiful and the interior colour (dash aside) sublime. There’s no mention of the price though. I know there is no set price as everything will be bespoke but I reckon £250,000. Any other guesstimates?

Amazing really.

They probably took a higher mileage car too. One with upwards of 3000 miles then made it look brand new.
I wonder if the restoration department might have been busier if they answered the phone?

Stunning then, stunning now. I'd take this over any of the latter Bugatts.

But the EB110 in bright French racing blue is the holy grail.

Indeed I think they are doing a sale at the moment on designer frames

I think that is stunning, vs all the winged and canarded up try too hards out of Montery last week, this is elegant perfection to me.

Was'nt massively keen on the Veyron when it was launched but they've really grown on me and values seem to be heading only one way..!

Great news! Finally some hope for all those MOT failure Veyrons rotting away in suburban front gardens.

I wonder if the publicity from YouTubers got them thinking about the underlying kwality given the passing of the years?

I'm assuming the cost will be eyewatering, for which 99.99% of people would never know the difference.

Interesting, I thought red(ish, orange? )+blue+chrome+beige is a no no. In my eyes it looks terrible. Too many colours, that do not fit well together.

Always thought these looked a little too "bug" like - this one has done nothing to change that view.

This ^^^

Years ago I test drove a Maserati Gran Sport. In red. It was perfect spec, except for the dash was beige.
Didn't bother me until I turned a corner and the sunlight hit it. I could barely see out the windscreen.

Now I know why it had such a low mileage. Year I could have had the dash recovered in Alcantara, but I couldn't be arsed with the faff!

Yep, have to agree that colour combination is truly awful. . As keeps being said on PH comments - each to his own! Oh hang on, each to their own!

Do you still need new alloys with every new tyre change?
