I've been hooked on the TVR Speed Six engine for about 20 years now, the sound is like nothing else and despite building a Defender with a BMW petrol 6, it still didn't quite cut it.

Add to the fact that i'm about 15 years too late to the party, as I can still remember when you could get a nice T350 or Cerbera for 12k.

Obviously i've kept an eye on the classifieds, at put a few silly offers in on CAT D breakers but nothing every came of it.

Anyway, this popped up - either its got a sketchy history that I'm not aware of, its a complete basket case (which i don't think it is!) or i'm incredibly stupid.

Lets just say it was the cheapest in the country..

A weekends trip up to Scotland to look at, under and litterally crawl all over it, and put a deposit down.

Came with a wealth of history, invoice for Power's rebuild I believe, outriggers done at 1 point - Looks like a very well looked after car in its life

Its now back home with me, and due to work and holidays I haven't yet managed to drive it apart from on to the drive and left it there frown

I promised myself I wouldn't get balls deep into it just yet, but that lasted about 2 days to investigate squeaky belt on startup.

Thats lee to finding a cracked auxilary shaft bearing holder, which typically the bolts rounded when removing (common problem apparetntly) so having to hack away slowly and carefully.

Good bits - Colour is lovely, halcyon hebrides which is a dark green which looks almost black in most lights. Interior, a lovely dark red - I despise the cream interiors and light colours found on some of these.

Bad - Leak around steering rack - Need to invesitgate exactly whats going on..
Despite turning up with a fresh MOT, the headlights don't work and emit a loud buzzzz - I think its the balast for the HID's - There looks like an aftermarket unit in the wheelarch which is likely at fault i'd guess
Drivers door window doesn't drop on opening - I've checked all the usual failure points with this, and all seems fine so I can only assume its the door control ECU.
The seller said the heater didn't work at all - At first I agreed, but on looking around I didn't realise it was a click operation.. Still need to check fully..
Chassis - Its not terrible, but its also not fresh. The outriggers were done around 10 years ago, and obviously showing 'wear'.

Im not stupid or naive, and a chassis / body lift will need to be undertaken and somepoint in 5 years maybe - I do love a good project to get balls deep in so this doesn't scare me too much.

Couple of photos from how it sits now - I was thinking to get some spider wheels for it, but reading how fragile, flakey and heavy they are I may just stay with the team dymanics wheels and get them repainted silver.

Chatgpt'd silver wheels..

This'll be a fun project. Cool cars, although I prefer the earlier headlights.

Enjoy!

I would agree on the silver wheels, much classier than the gold!

A bit of internet detectiving found this image from Reddit, which is the car from a few years ago with the same TD's, but in black.

I'm sure that plate will probably by recognised by a few TVR heads, as that chap appeared to own it for circa 16 years and spent a threw a decent chunk of cash at it!

Also, planning to definetly get a 3/4 plate on the front
