I started looking at M2 I think they look awesome in every way, I took a Toronto red out last week and what a fantastic car. Much more than I expected.
The thing is I would have to sell my 997 turbo manual.
My car is quite good at holding its value, where do you think a 2024 M2 value will be at in say two to three years from now.

The easiest way to get an idea of that is to go onto the BMW Approved Used site, pick out a car that fits the bill then go onto the finance calculator and see what the optional final payment is at the end of a PCP deal, that's generally what BMW think the car will be worth. You can adjust it for the length of time you plan to keep the car and your annual mileage.

Personally I'd go for the M2, but that's mainly because I'm risk averse and for the price of a 15 year old manual 997 turbo I could probably get an 18 month old M2 with plenty warranty left.

I guess that probably defies any logic because the M2 will lose thousands in value before the warranty expires and the 997 likely won't lose a penny.

997 Turbo without a doubt. Unless you would like to lose 50 % of the M2 value in 3 years, and need a marginally more practical car.

That’s exactly what is stopping me it would probably be a big loss over a few years. Do appreciate your input thanks to you both.
Nothing wrong with the 7 turbo it’s tip top but it’s just a change to have something different.
Will probably keep it for now but I do like the M2 a lot.

23/24 M2s start at £46k so £23k in 3 years would be brilliant news, particularly as they will be £200 tax by then.
Not a chance IMO though, unfortunately.

Easy answer. Keep the 997 turbo it’s in a different league.

Nothing wrong with M2, probably the best looking “new ish” bmw on sale. But it’ll keep loosing you money. And it’s still a bmw not a porsche.

A manual 997 will always have a strong following.

I would probably try find a good 1M before dropping £50+k on a new shape M2, that’ll hold its money better and always be rarer being a ltd edition car.

I'd keep the manual 997 turbo, there are only 7 for sale on AT so it's a rare car and manual performance cars like that aren't going anywhere but up in price, maybe spend some money on the 997 to refresh it and keep your interest in it.
