I have 2x valet ECU keys. I'd like to put one of them in a new glass casing, as the main glass key I've got has been dropped and has a minor crack. I've seen some housings on ebay which are significantly cheaper than I can find elsewhere. Anyone got experience with these? Can I take the internals of the backup valet key and put it in to one of these housings? https://ebay.io/m/UfcEZS

Not being snarky but:
  • multiple adverts, all using the same pictures
  • different sellers (allegedly)
  • all in China, different cities
  • sample in photo has "Mexico" on the back
  • sample in photo has "433 MHz" on the back
  • lists models that the glass key does not fit (e.g. DB11 and DBX)
I for one would be interested in how you get on if you take the plunge. Pretty sure the picture is not what you'll receive, but happy to be wrong.

That's not snarky at all, it's exactly what I thought! I'm tempted to give it a go. Often these kinds of things are someone on the manufacturing line in china pocketing one per month and selling online for supplementary income, so they could be genuine (even if a little immoral!).

An interesting point. It's easy to assume (like I just did) that they meant just the repair chassis rather than a working key.

It could be you'll get a (p)leather case. A rather expensive one.

The part number AD43-67675-AB doesn't show up at all on Scuderia Parts or Aston Bits, the Scuderia ECU/key section shows different part numbers for the glass key, the valet key, the repair kit and the leather case. But the number seems to throw up multiple Chinese adverts for replacement "crystals" of uncertain materials or origin when you plug it into a search engine.

It's a bit like a lucky dip, with £250 per ticket biggrin

I don't think the keys are Chinese made, so it's unlikely to be a genuine part that fell off the production conveyor - I believe AML went off Chinese parts a bit after the accelerator pedal debacle

You're right about the lucky dip at £250 per go! Hmm, I'll have a think about whether I want to take the gamble! If I go for it, I'll update this thread
