V8V induction noise
Discussion
I came across this video which explains why the Vantage sounds so muted and what can be done to correct it.

Sounds good but having exposed air filters so close to the ground looks like trouble waiting to happen on a wet road with standing water.
I agree. Once Aston decided to put the air filters in the front fenders they had to consider wet weather driving. That’s why the complicated air enter at the grill and fed to the air filer contraption was needed.I removed my air boxes years ago and went for a custom ITG foam filter/mounting bracket.
I didn't see much risk as aren't they hidden from most road water due to wheel arch liners and undertray ?? (Plus generally don't intend on driving in bad weather)
Not sure it changed the sound/performance much, just a weekend project to make the car different.

It seems that way, but it's not really an elevated risk. A 'wet road' isn't going to kick up enough water to cause any problem. The area under the hood where the filters reside is still fairly closed off, even without the airbox....it still has the under-tray, and blocking from the bumper/radiator/etc. It would be difficult for any meaningful amount of water to get in there from rain or road spray.
If you're driving through standing water, you're screwed no matter what intake you have. VH cars have a cool air intake tube (not ram air) in the front bumper, and that goes straight through the airbox to the filter. Again, it doesn't pick up enough spray to get through the filter media, but if you drive through standing water you'll suck it up whether you have an airbox or not.
So in summary - the "GT4 Airbox Delete" kits are GREAT for increasing induction noise (I did it on my DB9), and water ingestion is not any more of a concern than it would be with the factory airbox. Don't drive through standing water in any car.
It is a bit like using pegs and football cards on your bicycle.
That “rattle can” sound is ok for a while. Did it on a BMW once. You soon get tired of it though.
I didn’t know the 4.3s were so quiet. I always thought they were supposed to have a nice sound.
No way on earth would I ever want my AMR (with secondary cat delete) to be any louder! I’d probably be arrested.
