Hi everyone,

I've got this eufy floodlight camera but am not very sure on how to replace the existing floodlight above the garage due to how it's currently wired see pic 1.

My neighbour is going to help me fit it but just wondering what you folks think is the best way to do it and what parts I need to grab from screwfix/toolstation/amazon.

Cheers!

Maybe I missed something but it looks you remove the old junction box and just connect live, neutral and earth into the handy spring-loaded connectors.

Yeah I had hoped it would be that simple but if you look closely in pic 1 I actually have 2 mains wires going into the top part of the terminal I think it's looping back to the on/off switch in the garage.

At a minimum you'll need a weatherproof junction box and some cable glands so you can frisbee that non-weatherproof thing into the nearest bin. Is there a motion sensor or a daylight switch that the other cable runs to?

In the right most of the three brass terminals is that just a blue wire?

Looks like you’ve got a live neutral and earth coming in on the front twin and earth cable and then the brown live going to a switch and the blue (both in the rear twin and earth) comes back as a switched live (into the third terminal).

So if you still want the Eufy to be switched then just do as described earlier and replace the connections in the way they currently are to the existing lamp.

I was assuming from the look of it that the camera came with its own backplate & grommet? So all that wiring ends up internal and the cable goes straight into the back with no other fittings.

Doesn't look too bad to me .. Used the block to feed a live back down to the switch (which is probably located nowhere near the light ring) , then fed the switched live back on the "spare" blue neural wire(which has been covered to indicate no longer neutral) .... Don't know what else you would expect if you want the light on a switch. I'd either lob off the WAGO connectors or put an extra piece of 3 wire if its not long enough to where the light is being fitted, also make it more waterproof junction . At least they siliconed the hole in your wall smile

Morning buddy thanks for your reply do you have any recommendations for a new weatherproof junction box? I was looking at this one https://www.toolstation.com/d-line-ip65-moulded-bo...

Since it's on your garage wall .. the other option is put the junction box inside your garage and just run the wires through the wall and silicon them in.

If that's feasible it's a decent idea; otherwise something like this and the cable glands linked as related products.

This does sound like a good idea!
