This is doing my head in...

I have a waste pipe in the kitchen - 43mm external dim, apparently this is Osma pipe - no idea what that means.

I need to connect this to the standard 40mm - straight.

Asked a variety of local suppliers, Wickes, Toolstation, Ideal Plumbing - no use. How hard can it be?

So - I have to ask the PH community.

Any links to a thing that will do this will be massively appreciated.

Thank you!

You can get 44mm to 40mm compression fittings, some on ebay as 'euro adapters 44mm'.
I'd guess that would do 43mm?

Waste pipe sizes are nominal, push fit different to solvent weld, I forget the details!

The 43mm od is solvent weld, the 41mm od is push fit, so you need one of these waste adapter. Both types of pipe called 40mm. If you finally lose the will to live, use one of these Flexiwaste coupling. It may be cheaper if you factor in the cost of the adapter, solvent weld glue and pipe degreaser.

Plastic compression joint will do it or a fenco. Ideally just rip all the crappy push fit out and start again with solvent weld.

I had this once helping a friend out. we resorted to heating the larger pipe with a hot air gun and forcing the smaller pipe in a couple of inches as a temporary measure until we could find the right fitting. that joint is still going strong today biggrin

As others have said solv weld and push fit are slightly different sizes - use compression to transition between the 2.
