I need at least a pair of O2 sensors (upstream) and possibly downstream too for my 4.3 V8 Vantage

I believe there are aftermarket sensors available, but there's not much point if they are poor quality. Both AM specialists I've spoken to today don't recommend aftermarket.

However, £800 on AM genuine makes me baulk - has anyone fitted decent aftermarket and found them to be OK. if so, where from?

Looks like NTK OZA816-EE1 / NGK95598 are compatible. Under £40 each, instead of almost £200

No need to buy OE, when I changed the O2 sensors on my 4.3 Vantage about 13 years ago I just got the NGK ones off ebay for about £25 each and paid my local garage an hours labour to fit.

Aftermarket works just as well if not better. Mine had them replaced 3 years ago no issues

Interestingly NGK recommend two different part numbers for front and rear, only difference being cable length, it may help when looking for some

Exactly the info I was looking for - thanks

NGK = about £180 for all four sensors (might as well do them all, while I'm there). Genuine Aston Marton = £808

£150 delivered on sparkplugs but of course, out of stock and 15-20 working days delivery, maybe….

Looks like the upstream O2 sensors are unavailable from most reliable sources (I'm not using Ebay if I can help it)

The part is common with stiff like Ford Cougar, Mondeo and even Ka, so I'm wondering if a Ford genuine would be an alternative...

The part is common on numerous models, its just the cable length to be aware of, I had to re-order when 2 turned up with too short cables.

Not sure if the sensors are the same on the 4.3 and 4.7 bit a quick Google should be able to tell you and the posts above appear to confirm they are.

I got these from Opie Oil:

  • 2 × NTK 95598 / OZA816-EE1 (front control sensors)
  • 2 × NTK 92107 / OZA836-EE13 (rear monitoring sensors)
Just under £160 for the four.

That said, they only had one NTK 95598 / OZA816-EE1 and the other one is on back order, so I ve currently got a here of the four sensors ready to fit.

Yup - that’s what I’ve found. Upstream aren’t available from anywhere reliable and downstream are in stock everywhere

Hopefully they’ll be back in stock soon, as they are used across Ford and Mazda you would think demand would be a little higher. If they were Aston only, you can understand lack of availability. Fingers crossed. I’ll post back when I get the fourth one I’m waiting for.

Reminds me of a problem I had a couple of years back.

I bought some NGK Lambda sensors, but struggled to fit them due to their location and the fact I couldn’t get the old ones undone.

Took them to my local garage who said they would only fit parts that they have supplied for legal reasons (?).

So I said, well you order them then and I’ll keep the ones I bought. Booked it back in again a week later, only to be told that they couldn’t get them!

As it turned out it was a MAF sensor that needed replacing. Still got the Lambda sensors in their boxes!,

I ordered a replacement NTK 95598 / OZA816-EE1 (front control sensor) from Autovaux HS Components, which has now arrived. It’s identical to the one ordered from Opie Oils. Both companies being credible and reliable. The cost for the one sensor was £45.76 delivered.

Hope this helps confirm options are available and there is still some stock out there from reliable sources.

I saw that one but didn’t order as the picture wasn’t even an O2 sensor, they’re now out of stock.
I have two new rears, need fronts

£48,31 https://www.partsinmotion.co.uk/car-parts/ecu/swit...

AUTODOC also show them available but ai couldn’t get the app or website to accept my address details for postage.

I’d do a quick bit of due diligence on the above site. I’m sure it’s legit, but make sure you’re comfortable.

This is my worry - I’d found them in stock from several places that I hadn’t heard of. There’s a high probability that anything on EBay or Amazon is either not in stock, or not genuine. I’d rather pay AM genuine prices than risk my engine using cheap Chinese knock-off stuff
