Hey team,

Currently planning a little family road trip in Ireland for September., with two young kids (1 and 3). Itinerary is pretty loose, but I'm taking the car across to Rosslare and wife and little ones flying into and out of Cork. We will have about 11 full days.

Sligo is the only must see on the list as I have family there. Not fussed about Dublin (I've lived there for 3-4 months previously) and given starting/ending place is Cork can probably rule out Northern Ireland as well.

Anybody have any suggestions? Ideally looking for some suggestions for nice country hotels that are alright for the little ones, and any attractions people would suggest. Fota Wildlife Park I think is a given.

Cheers,
Andy

I can recommend Kilkenny (dependant on your direction of travel from Cork). Stayed at Langtons Hotel which is pretty much in the middle of Kilkenny. Fantastic hotel with great rooms. Kilkenny is a lovely place with a river, castle and plenty of shops, bars and restaurants. You could take in Waterford too on the way to Kilkenny.

Up the west coast, Galway, Westport & Achill Island are worth a visit

Dungarvan is pretty nice. Got good memories of being in Tramore as a kid also.

I second Kilkenny too. Langton's hotel is a great location and a good place to stay.

Cork itself is worth a day or 2.
