Simply not an attractive car compared to any and every SL that came before.

Huge fk-up. Were the board drunk?

I agree it's not as pretty as previous SLs, however that model looks at its best in that blue.
I also imagine it's brilliant at iwhat ts intended to do wafting you along on a nice day type journeys.

That’s no looker but is that because the photos were taken by a 2’6” midget?
(My apologies if he is a wheelchair user - but get a selfie stick, if so!).
I’m off to Autotrader to see what one looks like when viewed a grown man standing nearby.

Hi, I would like to join the bidding but have a question. I notice that there was a fault diagnosed with the Air Scarf in 2024 but couldn’t see any details for the repair being completed. Please can you clarify if these are now functional? Also, are there any other mechanical/electrical defects that I should be aware of. I don’t have time to travel to see the car before bidding closes so I am trusting the accuracy of the listing.

Thanks

Hi Stuart,
The air scarf is working perfectly. The control unit was replaced by Mercedes Aylesbury under warranty from Alexander’s Prestige, the dealer I sourced the car from.
The electrics are all good, the passenger side airbag warning will come on if you lean forward in the passenger seat, this then goes out. Airbag working correctly. I believe it is a sensor in the passenger seat which maybe faulty.
The car is otherwise in excellent health.

I have a very similar car. After a bunch of Ferraris including a 575M, the SL is a far better GT car. With the roof up it is as quiet as a Mercedes saloon and with it down it is quiet with no buffeting even at motorway speeds. The standard stereo is also the best I have ever come across It is also incredibly economical. I have just returned from Spain in it and it averaged 37 MPG when cruising at 80 MPH, which means it goes over 600 miles before you need to fill it up again. Looks are personal, but it gets lots of admiration when parked

The characteristic you describe about the passenger airbag is a function of the car, not a fault. If pressure is released from the seat the airbag switches off and a message is given on the dash. It is to ensure that any passenger is seated in the correct position for airbag deployment. If you are in the wrong position when the airbag is deployed it can be dangerous.

Thanks Keith, I second all your comments about the SL, we drove to the south of France twice last and it was a stress free, super comfortable journey with 35mpg+ achieved.
