Repair for older Dimplex electric fire - plastic tray

Hi folks

I was looking to replace or repair the orange plastic tray in the enclosed, that simply holds the artificial coals in a Dimplex electric fire - 2 bar electric heater is in behind.

It seems the part is not available anymore from manufacturer or UK Spares.

Any suggestions for other sources or suggestions of a material I could use to effect a simple heat resistant non flammable repair ?

How heatproof does it need to be?

Could 3D print or failing that get something fabricated in metal?

Electric fires are pretty cheap so I suspect that you could probably get a new one for a lot less than it will cost to replace that part on (what looks like) a very old one.

Has the plastic gone brittle from the heat of the bulbs underneath? Perhaps you could fit a couple of orange LED bulbs and put some chicken wire over the holes, unless you need the heat from the bulb to produce the flickering effect.

Thanks yes that’s likely and chicken wire not a bad shout. Was just thinking of something solid just for aesthetic purposes but the artificial coals on top largely hide things so not a bad shout thank you
