What's the most you have ever spent on a holiday?

This isn't intended to be a willy waving thread. 
Just been in the local travel agents to pay off the balance for our upcoming holiday, and I said to the girl, "What's the most anybody has ever spent on a holiday, in your experience?"
She replied:-"£65,000, but lots of people spend £40k plus"
My most memorable holiday, looking back, was when I walked the Pennine way in 1974, cost £180, so it proves you can have a decent holiday without breaking the bank

My first ever holiday that I paid for was a 3 week trip to Malindi in Kenya when I was 19. Cost me £700 (via a bank loan). This was including flights 1/2 board and a 3 night safari. Completely changed my life and I've been going back to Africa ever since. My family is Ugandan/British.
The most memorable/expensive family holidays were a 3 week self-drive trip across Mexico after Covid and then the following year a 3 week trip to Zambia for my 60th. 4 of us both times, both around the £22-25k mark.

My missus won a holiday in auz, first class flights on an A380 and a week at the Langham Sydney in a suite
They let us change the departure date to extend it to 3 1/2 weeks so we treated it like a once in a life time experience, we landed and flew to uluru for a couple of days, spent 4 days in an apartment in Brisbane and drove 4k km in a supercharged v6 Toyota as well as the week at the Langham
if we had paid for it all it would have been an easy 30k at that time, so prob 50k now
she then of course won a holiday the following year in an exclusive resort in auz that had around 6 apartments and 5 staff per apartment lol, went on her own

That's surprising but I suppose it depends on how many people you're booking for. The most we've ever spent is £12k and that was 2 weeks in Orlando for 6 of us.
We normally spend £500 to £1500 on nice cottage holidays in the UK, been to all the usual places, Lanzarote, Tenerife, Crete, Malta, Kos, Italy, Germany, and went to New York ten years ago.

6 grand for the villa, 4 grand for flights and we’ll probably spend another 4-5 grand on eating out, go carting, buggy safaris and other stuff, and we’ll happily pay for the lot of it.
Can’t wait.

Wonder how many 16yo's do that these days.
In answer to the question about £15k last year but that got us a month in Canada and we covered 8000km not including internal flights and ferries.
Spent 12K for 7 nights going to Ikos Oceania as soon as travel opened up post covid. This was for four of us 2 adults, 1 teen who could drink but doesn't and one under age. Really was a case of supply and demand dictating the price.
We still go to one Ikos resort per year as we like the concept but looking at what you can spend on the deluxe offering I would be surprised if people weren't hitting easily £50k for one of their self contained villas.

Mrs 131 Sport and I went to Thailand last year for our Silver Wedding Anniversary. The total cost including spending money was £11k.
In previous years family holidays to the Adriatic or Spain going by car and staying in a mobile home on a top site could be £8k in the summer. If it was Spain we’d occasionally take the ferry to Santander that would increase the cost significantly.

I'm a lightweight at £2k for a week mountain biking in the Portes Du Soleil solo in 2023.
Biggest planned was 3 months touring New Zealand for the December - March 2020-21 Had been planning that for well over a year, had the time booked off work as a career break and was all set with a year to spare then the pandemic hit. Total cost of that was estimated at £20k but would probably have been £2-3k more. Thankfully I had great insurance plus a very understanding NZ company I'd booked the motorhome with who all refunded most of the money paid so I only lost £3k in deposits. The motorhome company is still going and said if I ever actually made it over there I could use my deposit with them as credit, they emailed me to remind me about it last Christmas! Very much doubt I'll ever do it now as I lost that job 6 months into the pandemic and all the money was spent on getting me through the long period of unemployment afterwards and other family stuff. It was a genuine once in a lifetime trip planned but I do know that some of my friends spend that amount on holidays every other year!
