Quick career question - City Traders, Brokers, Dealers etc..
Discussion
Can any of you traders, dealers etc offer any advice or contacts to help start a career in any of the above? I currently work for a large UK fund manager as a manager of one of the back office client service/valuation teams but want to move into one of the roles listed above. Trouble is I don't know where to start, most agencies I've spoken to say there rarely any trainee positions that come up and they will only put forward people with relevant experience. Trouble is I'm in the vicious circle of needing a role to gain experience and not getting the role due to lack of experience.
Any help or advice would be much appreciated.

Depends what you want to do. Are you qualified, you know accountant or something?
If yes your best bet probably is to go to a medium sized house in product control, ass kiss the traders and hope that when they look for a new junior trader they'll give you the nod.
Oh if it's one of the larger houses check that they don't have a closed door policy on moving mid to front office.
Well that's my 2p.
I presume that you feel inclined to get out of bed much much much earlier in the morning?
